I have admired Kay Hagan's efforts more and more on this important issue as our Junior Senator continues to be attacked by uncompromising wingnuts on both ends of the spectrum. I pray Senator Hagan's deliberative efforts for real reform without sacrificing an equally real foundation of North Carolina's economy will be more successful than her efforts to save NC's small tobacco industry from Philip Morris.

Maybe since Burr isn't 'helping' this time, she'll succeed.

A former buddy of mine down at Bragg raised beagles for a few years, and there was nothing funnier than watching a bunch of beagle puppies sharing a big dogfood bowl, eating and growling at the same time. :)

The North Carolina beer excise tax was last changed in 1969 and has lost 83% of its value. If the tax had kept pace with inflation, instead of $0.53 per gallon, it would now be $3.11 per gallon

Wouldn't it be easier if they just went ahead and registered him as a lobyist for North Carolina, let him work on NC issues, then had him follow the rules? As it is, unless they want to release a full accounting of his travels, meetings, and conversations, anytime he and a politician are in the same room, we're going to have these questions come up. That or move him to DC and let him play in the big leagues there until Gov. Perdue is out of office.

Last I checked all kinds of people attended. To single out a handful in attendance is completely misleading with a melicious agenda. Beverly Perdue was elected Governor over your "endorsement" of Pat McCrory. Get over it N&O. The people have spoken. You have not right to target a child of an elected official, trying to 'create' fake news. Garrett Perdue is not an elected official. You should be ashamed for this continuous witch hunt. Undermines any objective crediblity that remains on your part.

This is all you need to know about Mr. Eudy: "We help corporations advance regulatory interests" ; "Eudy was the best man at the wedding of Bob Greczyn"; "CAPSTRAT'S LARGEST CORPORATE CLIENTS: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina." and, "Ken Eudy is one of Barack Obama's key supporters in North Carolina."

Couple that to this week's WaPo article outlining how BCBSNC is using the ill gotten gains from not paying for patient care (as a BCBSNC Advanta insured member, in a 3 member healthy family, I cannot get reimbursed screening colonoscopies or mammograms; and there is no mental health parity tho a law was passed last year: BCBSNC was allowed by state legislature to OPT OUT) and this is what you got: 'North Carolina's Blue Cross Blue Shield Trying to Kill Key Plank of Obama Plan.' :"the company has hired an outside PR company to make a series of videos sounding the alarm about a government-sponsored health insurance option, known as the public plan"

Not to be glib but we get the point.

This 'award' is a silly little paper certificate that Governors handout to everyone and anyone (or anything) not unlike candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. (Except Easley who refused to allow trick-or-treaters at the Governor's Mansion.)

In the meantime, you think you could pull your head out of the book of recipients long enough to hot foot it over to the State Highway Patrol office and starting asking office staff who the heck stole the Easley travel records?

Just saying there appear to be more pressing things for a newspaper with limited resources to be using their limited reporting resources on than this.
