Grey Mills beat incumbent Karen Ray in a close primary. She was forced to retire because she lost.

Jim Harrell actually served 3 terms, not 2.

And let's be clear about Mackey, who "ran for" and was "elected" sheriff. This was not an election in the traditional sense, but rather an internal Democratic Party selection to fill the office after the sheriff resigned (as provided by law).

CONGRATULATIONS TO REPRESENTATIVE FLOYD! Filling the shoes of her office's predecessor, the distinguished (and charming) Rep. Debbie Clary, will not be easy, but District 110 has shown again that it is a leader in North Carolina politics. Yes, a few shining sparkles have come out of the 2008 election.

Frances Cummings from Robeson County served in 1995-1996 - she was elected as a Democrat and switched parties.

Pearl Burris Floyd was elected the first black Republican woman to North Carolina's first state legislature.

As of Oct. 31, SEIU had given $1,150,000 to the Democrat Party fund to elect State Candidates.

The Unions have played a big part in where the BIG 3 automakers are now. The average costs of labor by the BIG 3 is over $30 a hour more than other automakers in the south including benefits.

Since I get paid by the hour and rely on my company for compensation I understand trying to make as much as you can. That is the American way. But bankrupting your company over this doesn't make any sense. And if the executives let this happen then they share in the blame.

So, No I am not for a bailout of the BIG 3.

I believe that the unions and union organizations do not seem to see the picture and are only a detriment in today's world. Before they were needed for worker safety and compensation. Now they are just for obtaining power and running this country their way through their lackeys.

RTB what is with the detailed mentioning of the Senate races but a simple summation of the House races? I am not crying unfairness but it just seems a bit odd to place more emphasis on one chamber.

Soles is one of 4 or 5 State Senate Democrats that need to send Barack Obama a thank you note for competing in and ultimately winning NC.
