EWOL you need to back up you statements with actual facts. Can you go back let's say 3 years and give us every "POOR" woman raped and a victime of pedophilia. But why just restrict this funding to poor women. What about middle class women with no health insurance.

I totally, totally agree. I'd bet $50k could be saved by having the governor drive to a few meetings rather than fly a helicopter or jet. I sure hope she will override this cut.

Forcing taxpayers to pay for what some believe to be immoral is what we do everyday when we send men and women to kill and die in war.

Well I guess technically you are right that Governor Perdue hasn't recently taken a stance on the state abortion fund - but one could argue she took a stance against it in 1995 as one of the NC Senate’s chief budget writers when she helped cut funding for the state abortion fund from $1.2 million to $50,000.

The 50K is like spitting in the ocean. When many poor women are victims of rape and pedophilia, getting pregnant is an assault. These women and young girls deserve AT LEAST an abortion, if they don't want to parent. In the long run, this would be cheaper than dealing with the results of unwanted parenthood.

Just to be clear: Perdue has not taken a stance on the state abortion fund. These proposals were given to her by agency heads.

Kudos to you Bev! Civilized people can disagree about allowing abortions, but forcing taxpayers to pay for what some believe to be immoral is clearly wrong.

Republican post of the day

HAHA...post of the day right there...

And the Obligatory Kennedy joke of the day from Republicans happens to be:

I am sure the reason the Senate pool is for men only is so that when Teddy Kennedy is in the pool there won't be any "accidents" with the female members of the Senate.

Precious.

The Republican nominated "quote of the day" folks, is Kennedy is finally dead.

Maybe you guys can get a two-for-Tuesday if Byrd dies too. WOOHOO!

I did not want to get into Dole-bashing as a response, but if the men would not listen to her then maybe she should have spoken up more in the committee meetings. I like Dole, but I don't think that she prepared herself for these meetings and therefore had nothing to say. I go to town hall meetings and know the type. They just pick up the packet and skim through it ten minutes before the meeting. I don't think Hagan will be this way. She may not vote the way I like all the time, but she already seems much more engaged in her work than Dole was. The reason the Democrats got more money this time is because K Street hedged their bets toward the likely winners. My "research" came from the Wall Street Journal on that point.

By the way...this state has no clue what they voted for in Hagan...she failed to take a stance on countless issues and she told us that she would let us know when she got to DC...we could guess that she would be indebted to Schumer for about $21 million...and he is VERY LIBERAL.

She is beholden to the campaign promises she made and she voted NO on the bailout...political positive for the elections....yet as soon as she is not in a heated election and hopes that in 6 years people will forget this vote... We will not.

Talk about the is just rhetoric...which party received more money from K-Street during the election? It was the Democrats.

Secondly her term just started a mere week ago and she has already changed her position on the bailout and co-sponsored a horrible piece of legislation. Hagan lied during her campaign and now will be a blank check for the Democrats...

By the way...Dole did work, but it is hard to do work when the Men's Club does not really value the opinion of a women...watch to see how Hagan handles the situation. She will be a puppet for Reid and Schumer like she was for Rand and Basnight.

These are just tirades of rhetoric...they are facts...do some research...

At least Hagan actually does work when she is elected. And as for the special interests, K Street is the Republican graveyard for elected officials and connected individuals. Why must we rehash these tired old attack pieces on Kay Hagan? I don't know her personally, but I can say that this state was ready for a good work ethic and more enthusiasm for the job.
