The underreporting is just further proof that this is a PAY to PLAY state. And who is and has been running this state? THE DEMOCRATS!

Let me be straight with everyone, a vote for a Democrat is a vote for corruption. And the continuing loss of jobs in this state belong again to the party in charge, DEMOCRATS!

Keep in mind that the court of public opinion has much different standards than a legal case that would almost certainly be appealed. In addition, many of the things that may upset you the most were not against the law at the time.

Is it possible that he received immunity from prosecution in return for cooperating with their case against Black?

I'd certainly hope not. He is as culpable as any one other than Black, didn't you report that he had essentially an open tab on his credit card for legislative leadership at various Raleigh restaurants and bars?

That's a question better answered by the Wake County district attorney, but my general understanding was that it was not an air-tight case because of the length of time since the loan and some haziness on the legal arguments. Beason was prosecuted successfully on a weapons charge, however.

Maybe this guy should just go back to driving boats drunk and crashing them, while nearly killing girlfriends...or was that his well-healed brother?

Re: James Gandolfini, N.C. lobbyist?

Ah Mr. RTB

Thanks for the attention drawn to the Lobbyist section of the NC Secretary of State website. While I read "Under the Dome" on a regular basis (with a fair amount of amusement), I did not find your cursory comments under "James Gandolfini, N.C. lobbyist?" do justice to the members of the Applications Development Team. The information provided to the public (including the N&O) through the website is a credit to the Secretary and her leadership for the past 10 years. A small staff of four developers is responsible for the design, development and support (and testing) of the entire information management system. This is a remarkable group. Their combined employment with NCSOS spans a 10 year period and represents over 30 man years of work on the system. This is unprecedented with respect to continuity of staff, particularly in state government. Among other things, that means the taxpayer is getting a real value for their dollar. The role of a developer is unheraled to say the least so poking fun at them in a public venue is childish and uncalled for. We welcome you to visit our office, see the application firsthand, meet the developers and then write a constuctive and positive article that tells the real story. And yes, I guess we are fans of the "Soprano" series.

Jim McManus
Applications Development Manager
North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State

I LOVE Kiri Te Kanawa -- so you just go ahead and admit it right now if you googled for the name of a soprano or actually pulled that name out of your own head.

If you came up with the name from "googling," then shame, shame, shame on you.

Otherwise, you are obviously a man of discernment, taste and above average class.
