Re: NRA opposes puppy mill bill

I'm a proud gun owner and an avid animal lover.

I'm dismayed that the NRA has strayed from its mission of protecting citizens' rights to defend themselves. The nation's biggest gun-rights group wants to protecting the interest of puppy mill operators? Why?

Read the bill. Decide for yourself. There's nothing radical in it.

The bill would go a long way toward preventing the kinds of conditions found in Wayne County two months ago. And what happened in September in Catawba County. And in November in Lincoln County.

Can anyone conscientiously argue that animals used for breeding shouldn't receive humane treatment?

So do ALL puppy mills abuse animals. Do you know this to be fact? Just being a devil's advocate so to speak. I read today that in the penned areas that usually cover hundreds of acres that foxes live and raise their young.
I am not saying I support puppy mills. But I have to respond to your attacks which are based on your opinion here since you brought up zero facts or statistics. Just like the Wake County School Board saying their diversity busing works yet will not run a study to see. They just say trust us we know better. Do you?

By the way I support both the NRA and the Humane Society so I want just the facts, man.

NRA despicable

Not sure which is more vile, the puppy mills or the NRA. No one who truly respects what hunting is or who practices ethics in hunting would vouch for puppy mills or "penning" foxes or canned hunts.

The mindset that supports puppy mills is the antithesis of the mindset of the hunter, who condemns mistreatment of any animal.

If the NRA members have legitimate kennels then what is their worry? However, why should not kennels be inspected and held to account just as a dairy or cattle, or pig farmer? There should not be special rules.

Puppy mills are gortesque and cruel. Go visit one and see for yourself.

I fail to see any difference between a puppy mill, child pornography, or those who traffic in human beings. This is vial and we all know it. CLOSE THE PUPPY MILLS.

It is about time that folks are held accountable.

You should keep your nutty comments to yourself, riot person. Did you even notice how Mayor Ray Nagan went door to door in New Orleans and confiscated guns? But, why would you care. Only the law abiders gave them up. The criminals kept theirs.

The NRA has been using Obama since before he became the nominee. Check out gunbanobama.com It's an old website they aren't using anymore.

Re: Burr bill would ease gun limits for vets

This is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Judges and magistrates are not medical experts they can only rely upon the words and opinions of individuals who work and operate in the mental health field.

Furthermore, to state that people who have a sever mental impairment as having "trouble handling their own affairs," does a great disservice to the people in the world who are struggling to overcome their demons and shows that Richard Burr has no idea what he is talking about.

Burr, by introducing this bill, insults America's veterans. This bill is tantamount to saying veterans are incapable of suffering mental disabilities and only further maintains the stigma soldiers in the armed services face when suffering from a mental disablity.

Also, Seung-Hui Cho was not a criminal until he violated the laws by killing people, which is why Congress and a myriad of states are working to close that loop-hole, while Burr's law only works to exacerbate the loop-hole.

This is just further proof that Richard Burr has no intentions of helping America's veterans or helping the mentally disabled in this country. He is more intent on getting quick political boost from organizations like the NRA.

I just hope people do not fall for this ruse.

Yea, as as a long time NRA member I'm wondering what is wrong with the NRA? No follow up with Joe to see if he ever got the questionaire. Sending out a document like that with no tracking, what's with the NRA these days? Did the NRA run out of my dimes to make a phone call? Can't staffers read Joe's Website or call his campaign? Every NRA member in the 3rd District should be wondering about whats being done on their behalf by the NRA. We expect straight shooting not blind blazing away. Can you imagine a career officer, Infantryman, Ranger and Paratrooper being against the second ammendment or guns? Unbelievable!
