Re: Congresswoman Gump?

Do you mean she was wrong when she voted against the Katrina appropriation because there was no accountability in it and low and behold a year later there were reports of massive fraud? Do you mean she was wrong when she voted against the billion dollar plus plus plus stimulus bill earlier this year again because of lack of accountability and all the earmarks? Having the government that can not manage H1N1 vaccine distribution in charge of health care in the U.S. would be worse than a terrorist attack. We can go after terrorists and eliminate them (or read them their constitutional rights, provide them with an attorney, treat them better than they have ever been treated before, and probably acquit them because of their victimhood)but once the government has total control over our health care there is nothing that can be done about it.

You guys in the media may not like her and think she is an embarrassment, but a majority of the people in her district have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for her. I for one am honored to have her as my representative.

So, um, how is she wrong, again?

I mean, since the world depends on America for advancing the overall quality of health care, and since this bill would lead to the crippling of that (no pun intended there, I promise)...

...then could MSNBC's uptown Charlotte viewers please explain to us what terrorist attack would be worse than that in the long run?

I mean, aren't these the same liberals that swear that these terrorists really aren't all that big of a threat to us? At least, that's what I gather from them constantly leaking our tactics in their papers, and constantly railing against pouring water and siccing bugs onto terrorists in order to prevent them and their buddies from killing again...

But if you all suddenly want to become Team America: World Police when it positions you to go after Virginia Foxx, then that's fine by me. I just hope you're all still playing that role when it comes time to make the hard choices in fighting terrorists and saving lives.

This "person" is nuts!! She is a DISGRACE to the state of North Carolina! How dare this Flat-Earth, Know-Nothing, Knuckle-Dragging, Mouth-Breathing repoblican compare the effort to provide affordable health care coverage to all Americans to the worst attack by terrorist on our nation. She is the face of the New repoblican Party. We must remember this!

Congresswoman Foxx is correct. If this bill passes both the House and Senate it will fundamentally restructure our country in ways that we aren't even aware of right now. The obvious changes will be in lack of choice, huge increase in taxes to pay for it, lack of coverage, waiting lines, bureaucrats making decisions, and on and on. All what has to do to see how this new health care regime will be is to just look at how effectively the government is running the distribution of H1N1 vaccine. Not just in having enough vaccine available but also in who gets it -- prisoners in Gitmo get it but there is not enough for pregnant women?

Re: Foxx's bill would affect only a few states

So what? THe new health care reform would only help a minority of people. Should we disregard it because of that? If you are going to use CENSUS data to district the state, then count ONLY the legal voters. If you want to count illegals in the CENSUS then count them separate and don't use them for redistricting. That is common sense that appears to be scarce lately.

I completely agree. If they are counted, then redistricting will occur based on total numbers, and not legitimate voters. But, why not document them as you do the census and send someone to lock them up and deport them? Works for me.

Amen,

Illegals should not have representation in our Congress, nor should they be counted in the reapportionment.

I have heard numbers from 5-15M people out of 304M people that do not have health insurance. We should do something to help them. But that something should not be a complete reordering of a system that by and large works well. The 47M people that liberals like to throw around includes people that could afford to buy insurance but chose not to, illegals, and others that meet the requirements for existing programs but chose not to participate. We don't need to, as the saying goes, throw the baby out with the bath water. Let's make the reforms that are needed but not destroy what we have.

black says: "How can Fed Ex or UPS compete with a government postal system...? "

If you knew anything about the postal system, you would know that it is a monopoly and has no competition. Fed Ex and UPS are not allowed to do what the postal system does. By the way, the postal system is a private contractor and NOT government employed. I know, it doesn't seem right, and I didn't realize it either, but that is the fact. The U.S. Post Office is a government contracted, supposedly self sustaining monopoly. But, right now the federal government is keeping it going because it doesn't have enough money to sustain itself. If you want more information about it, go to Wikipedia.
So, your example was not a very thought out point.

Foxx was just stating that the corrupt congress is adding stuff that we don't want with the stuff that some may want. What are you dummies upset about? And it does happen all the time. She is just basically telling us that regardless of whether or not the majority of folks out here want it or not (as in this case with health care) we may end up getting it, regardless of the fiasco of congressional voting.
Right now the majority do NOT want this form of reform. We do want reform, but not PelosiBamaCare.

Don't bother arguing, because the stats say the majority do NOT want it.
