OK, now this is just petty. Melissa Jarrell would seriously blow away equality that was won for her and other LGBTQs just to get back at her ex? Wow.

Too many children are being raised without a mother and a father. Women bring strenths and weakness into raising a child, as do men. So when you have 2 women, or 2 men raising a child, the child is missing out on the strengths of the opposite sex.

Wasn't the child growing up without a father anyway? I don't see why people object to same sex couples adopting. There is no shortage of kids that need families, and the fact is same sex couples communicate and resolve disagreements better than heterosexual couples.

"How does it suit a minor child's interests and needs to grow up without a father?"

The court has to deal with the facts at hand so your question is of no relevance.

Let's not stop there. Marijuana use by Boseman (raised by Jarrell) must be also considered legal and proper now in North Carolina too.* Not the Cicero of ancient Roman history

No doubt you are not aware that Cicero smoke Roman Pot while defending the liberty of the SPQR peoples, while the Roman establishment law and order freaks banished him to parts unknown in the Empire.....

"....... so long as they protect the minor’s 'needs, interests, and rights,'" Judge Wanda Bryant wrote in the opinion.

So Judge Bryant ruled that it was in this child's "needs, interests, and rights," to have Boseman as a parent.

Let's not stop there. Marijuana use by Boseman (raised by Jarrell) must be also considered legal and proper now in North Carolina too.

There was a substantive committee substitute favorably reported out of a House Judiciary committee today for H445. The former language related to providing adult adoptees with their original pre-adoption birth certificates is gone. The text now allows agencies to agree to act as "a confidential intermediary for a biological parent or adult adoptee or adult lineal descendant of a deceased adoptee, without appointment by the court pursuant to G.S. 48‑9‑105, in order to obtain and share nonidentifying birth family health information or facilitate contact or share identifying information with adult adoptees, adult lineal descendants of deceased adoptees, and biological parents with the written consent of all parties to the contact or the sharing of information." There is no longer mention or reference to opening sealed files that contain original birth certificates.

State law (48‑9‑103) currently allows adoptive parents and adult adoptees to request a copy of adoption documents and a copy of any additional nonidentifying health‑related information about the adoptee's birth family that has been submitted to a court, agency, or DSS. If a request is made to the agency that placed the adoptee or prepared the report to the court, the agency shall furnish the individual making the request with a copy of any relevant report or information that is included in the sealed records of the agency - although not original birth certificates. Information released is edited to exclude the name, address, or other information that could reasonably be expected to lead directly to the identity of an adoptee at birth or an adoptee's parent at the adoptee's birth or other member of the adoptee's original family.
