My lord. I realize that you are an "opinionated citizen" but you should try and get a basic grasp of the issues before weighing in.

The reason NC spends $1.25 billion per year on community colleges is because the in-state tuition does NOT cover the cost per student. If you look at p. 38, the tuition cost for in-state students is about $1,344 per year. But the cost of educating these students (found on p. 40) is $5,501 per year. That means that the state pays $4,167 for every in-state student.

If we charged everyone the out-of-state tuition of $7,000 (as we do illegal immigrants), then the state's community collges would not require any state funding. Their costs would be completely covered by the tuition they charge. In fact, they would be a money-maker, providing state funds for other state government functions.

This really isn't confusing.

I am not sure why you cited page 40 as evidence that it does not cost taxpaying dollars - which illegals rarely pay - considering that on page 31 there is a graphic showing that $1.25 billion dollars comes out of the coffers...

So can you try and explain again?

Since Illegals are here illegally and breaking our laws, do we admit everyone breaking our laws?

Most if not all illegals here are also committing ID fraud and in some cases using municipal funds that are a drain on us!.

Please explain how it does not cost the taxpayers' money for illegals to go to school...

If an illegal gets a grant to attend school - that is money that could have gone to a legal citizen.

Grants come from a pool of taxpayers' dollars...

Are we going to stipulate that all illegals be educated outside - since it was our taxpaying dollars to build the schools, provide the desks and what not...

I know people that are applying to attend Wake Tech and they had to provide a drivers' license and could apply for financial aid - will all of these requirements change for illegals?

Just asking for some elaboration - since you have taken the stance that you know the facts of the situation and the reporter does not...

Any community college board member or bureaucrat had better realize the long term self safety issues that could come with supporting this outrageous ANTI citizen legislation...these board members are across the state and could have longterm personal repurcussions...they better REconsider this FAST.

Well...if they feel strongly about this let them put up some of their money to underwrite this opinion. The students they support are illegal and therefore are not entitled to the benefits that legal tax paying residents are entitled to.

They are generous to a fault with other people's money....BS talks,money walks!

It is an issue because people have the misconception that admitting illegal immigrants to community colleges costs money. If you are a reporter, and your job is to inform the public on all sides of this issue, you should include this fact.

Now if this fact doesn't move you to the community colleges' current policy, then that's fine. But the information should be out there so people can assess the issue with full information.

The fact that it does not cost taxpayers anything for illegal immigrants to attend community colleges is irrelevent. Illegal immigrants are in this country illegally, whether that individual crossed the border or was brought to this country by his or her parents at a young age.

The broader problem is that this country is not enforcing its border laws and it is compromising our sovereignty and our rule of law. If the country refuses to enforce the laws, our state must act to protect the rights of its citizens and our own sovereignty. I support legal immigration without quotas but illegal immigrants need to be treated as criminals because they have, in fact, broken the law.

When reporting on this issue, you should also mention the cost to the State of providing a community college education.

The cost (I don't have the exact number) is less than the out-of-state tuition cost. That means illegal immigrants at community colleges do not cost NC taxpayers a penny. In fact, since their tuition payments are greater than the cost of educating them, they are acutally subsidizing the education for NC resident students.

This is an extremely important fact that continues to be left out of reporting on this issue. Most of your readers don't realize that it doesn't cost anything to allow illegal immigrants into community colleges.

If Perdue's budget is the biggest ever, then she is not doing her job as Governor. When OUR taxpayer funded Spendulous bill runs out in two years we will be in a hyper-inflation economic mess with still over $2 billion shortfall. This is class Democratic politicians putting off for someone else to fix down the road. Won't out grandchildren be mad at us when they get this bill?
