Re: Burr pans Democratic health bill

Since Senator Burr just spouts the "say no" Republican mantra, what else can we expect from him? Who out there can look in the mirror and say it ok for a child whose parents cannot afford healthcare to not receive treatment. How sad we have "progressed" as a nation of people who care not for the less fortunate among us. I am sure that many of those who do not care believe that those who are without insurance are in that situation because they lack motivation to work, etc. How wrong they are, but I guess their beliefs are enough to allow them to remain comfortable as long as no one touches "their" healthcare. Look in the mirror and see the face of a suffering child who cannot receive treatment. They are out there by the thousands........

NC citizens have been lulled to apathy as they THINK that state taxes are fair...ignorance reigns supreme in THIS state.

Are any of his statements true?

a) there's nothing in the Senate bill that would prevent Americans from making healthier choices. In fact, the bill would leave more people covered with access to preventative measures, thereby addressing the very criteria Burr claims to be concerned about.

b) there's no public option that "allows patients...to be managed and be run by the federal government." What does that even mean?

c) the public opinion, as you note.

At what point do you begin A) covering each Burr story with the assumption that whatever he's saying is wrong, and B) doing a better job of informing your readers, rather than just reporting what Burr says. Pointing out the poll is a good start, but there's more work to be done when you have a politician lying with impunity.

Re: Poll: Public wants health care reform

USPS/IRS Health Care

If health care is the problem, insurance is not the cause and government is not the answer.

Of those "50 million," that lack insurance there were 45,000 who died without health care.

WITH health care, 98,000 died FROM health care because of malpractice.
The question is do we want to trust that largest corporation in the world, the U.S. Government. Do not expect house calls anytime soon.

We have seen how well the government delivers on its promises and its bureaucracies pursue the money without giving us benefits on so many levels.

Imagine another 111 bureacracies that only ultimately must listen to the Secretary of the Treasury - another "service" of which is the IRS.

http://theprogressivecapitalist.blogspot.com/2009/10/affordable-health-care-for-america-act.html

That blog of mine above has several .pdf connections (HR. 3962 and two summaries, a few videos, and page references for new taxes and other mandates).

If you cannot use the link, google "Progressive Capitalist H.R. 3962."
If you believe the promises of this bill, you have to deal with the lie that it fosters competition with a government option called the "Public Option" and establishes the government as a monopoly making its own rules.
Don't worry. You'll run out of "rich" soon enough.

We have at least a $12 trillion economy of which at least $1.8 trillion is spent on health care.
If you read the bill, there are plenty of opportunities to soak the middle class, if you do not mind the 1.6 million made jobless.
REPUBLICAN Affordable Health Care For America Act MAKING HEALTH Care Affordable For EVERY AmeriCAN

I was contacted twice this past week for polls on this same question. The first person asked if I was in favor of Obamas healthcare plan - so knowing the facts I indicated that as of this date the president has not put forward any written plans to congress - I heard some stuttering then they ended the call.

The second call was the Elon poll above, where I indicated that without knowing how the "public option" would effect me and would I be able to participate I could not choose - once again call ended.

Please be very wary of the results of these polls they are organized to obtain a pre-determined outcome based on how questions are asked - never do they provide any details, and at times they do not even know the facts

Those of you who are tired of Rep. Etheridge not responding to written questions, returning phone calls, spending our grandchildren’s wages even before that have earn them, join me if firing him. I asked him where in the Constitution I would find the amendment that gave him permission to mess with my health care, his response, the GENERAL WELFARE CLAUSE. I asked him if he ever read Article I Section 8 of the Constitution that limited the authority of the federal government. He would not respond. Join me in the FIRE ETHERIDGE CAMPAIGN by e-mailing me at Smokey1977@att.net
We are already over $100 TRILLION dollars in debt with social security, Medicaid and Medicare. Illegal aliens ARE getting health care by just using someone’s social security number.

What a bad poll question.

"State residents were even more divided on a national insurance plan in which the federal government pays most of the medical and hospital costs for all citizens with 47 percent favoring and 47 percent opposing it."

That would be a single payer system. While I am happy to see that almost half the state supports a single payer system, the public option would look significantly different from how it is phrased here.

A tele-townhall? Why is he afraid to get off his butt and meet both the voters in the 2nd district and many others. After all his vote affects everyone in this country. Either the Congressman supports the Left's radical positions or he supports this center-right country. And for the record I have met and talked with the Congressman one on one in quite a few different settings. He seems like a nice man but his votes are not.

Look at what is going on with this government takeover of health care. That alone should make everyone want to keep the Democrats from keeping or getting a bigger stake in eth US Senate.

Hate to bring you all the bad news but it seems Burr isn’t as unpopular as you think. A new Civitas poll released today shows Burr with and 10 point lead over Marshall.

Art Pope. Civitas. HA! Go send out more BCBS mailers praising Dick already.

Burr is uniquely unpopular. That is no mystery. He has been in elective office for years, but he has done nothing for the people of North Carolina. Last year, when the banks collapsed, he panicked - and told his wife to take the children and the credit cards to the nearest ATM and extract the maximum amount of cash available. Now that was a precipitous and panicky decision. Why on earth would anybody think that Burr might not deserve re-election? That's easy - Burr's highly publicized panic attacks!
