So they're looking for more losers eh? If you don't play, you can't lose.

At least they're giving a break to those who go to the stores to shop only to be held up by losers buying tickets at the counter.

Except that most people who buy lottery tickets also do their day to day shopping at big box retailers who are headquartered outside of North Carolina. Those big box stores suck money out of this state and offer only non-living wage jobs with few affordable bennefits to the majority of their employees. I can see your point if each of those dollars were spent at a locally owned business. Then certainly the money, including tax revenue, would stay right here in N.C. I think the dollars are better spent on the lottery. At least then they supposedly go to the education system (Ha!) thus reducing the amount of property tax I have to pay (ideally). Would be nice to see how much of the lottery revenue actually makes it into the education system.

Using the economic development formula or multiplier that says for every dollar spent there is a return of $7 to the economy (or something along those lines), how much would $3 billion in spending generate for THE NC ECONOMY if that money had been spent on consumer goods and services instead of lottery tickets? And if that formula works, how much in tax revenue would the state and local governments have generated from that multi billion dollar shot to our economy? For every dollar spent by consumers on lottery tickets, that's a dollar less to spend with North Carolina businesses.

Is the N&O banner ad I just saw at the top targeting a specific group or class of people? You know, the type of people that are too dense to understand that "Zillion" is not a real number, and even if it was, you'd have to spend tens of zillions on groceries in order to save the zillions from coupons subscribing to the Sunday N&O would provide you?

Is there a coupon in there for 10% off psychotherapy to alleviate advertising-related stress? I need that.

I admire our lottery professionals for thinking of the disenfranchised, the poor,the downtrodden. Just because you cannot speak English should not bar you from purchasing a lotto ticket. Are we not a nation who views everyone as equal in the eyes of the law? Would we purposely deny someone the opportunity to make millions? This is America!

I know in my heart that those immigrants who steamed by the Statue of Liberty knew that America was a place of freedom......freedom to buy a lottery ticket and support education.

I would hope that a course will be designed for NC's primary schools across our state which educates our children in the benefits of the lottery. What's the difference between a PowerBall and a PowerPlay? Do you have to pay cash or can you charge your lotto cards against your food stamp credit card? Did Opie try to catch a lake trout with PB & J?

The lottery should be available to us all, regardless of race, creed or language! Require the convenience stores to have a multi-lingual clerk on duty at all times. It should be the law! The lottery is our future and unless we step up to the plate our state will be no better than the automakers.

Well, why shouldn't we do this for them? Heck, doing this we are just enabling them not to learn the language and become part of America. It's just like when you go the DMV for your lisc. renewal...if you are a "white" perosn....you are not listed as Caucasian anylonger....we are now known as "NL"....NON LATINO. LMAO I couldn't believe that a year ago when I saw this when I needed to renew.

I take issue with the fact that our Lottery Commission wants to print Lottery tickets in Spanish. English is our national language and should be made so by the General Assembly.
How much would this cost the citizens of North Carolina and how much will it take away from the monies that are supposedly for education? Furthermore, if they are illegal should they be
eligible to win?
