Clinton will win the General Election
by oldskooldem

Thu May 01, 2008 at 08:13:16 AM PDT

A series of Quinnipiac polls just released shows exactly why Clinton should be the nominee. These polls were just released today, contain a high number of interviewees, and relatively low sample size.

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/...

oldskooldem's diary :: ::
Florida--the state that decided the 2000 Election
Clinton 49 - McCain 41; McCain 44 - Obama 43;

Ohio--the state that decided the 2004 Election
Clinton 48 - McCain 38; McCain 43 - Obama 42:

Pennsylvania--the state Hillary just won by double digits
Clinton 51 - McCain 37; Obama 47 – McCain 38

Now I'll be the first to argue that despite Hillary's double digit win, Pennsylvania doesn't "matter". There is no meaningful delta between Clinton's 14 point victory there and Obama's 9 point victory. We win Pennsylvania no matter what.

Florida and Ohio, however, are different stories. They show a weak Obama--losing to McCain by 1 point in each state, and a strong, powerful Hillary--beating McCain by 8 in Florida and 10 in Ohio. Not only are these amounts outside of the margin of Victory, I can promise you that if Clinton wins Ohio and Florida, we have a Democratic President.

Given that the luster has worn off of the Obama is messiah shpiel, I'd like someone to show me how he comes up with 270 electoral votes based on polls taken in the last 2 weeks.

Want to Buy a Superdelegate? They are for Sale and Obama Spends up Big!
Superdelegates can accept PAC donations from candidates. As expected, Obama is the biggest donater to the superdelegates. So yes, SD can be purchased and Obama has bought a lot of them with fat donations. So the King of Lies & Division who likes to fool people into thinking he is so ethical "without ties to lobbyists" (thats a lie) has no problem in BUYING superdelegates.

http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_New...onations/6691/

Quote:
The Illinois senator's political action committee has donated $710,900 to superdelegates since 2005, compared to his New York colleague's PAC donations of $236,100, McClatchy Newspapers reported Saturday.
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...52/1215/NEWS15

Quote:

The study found that the presidential candidate who gave more money to the superdelegates received their endorsements 82% of the time. That's based on a review of elected officials who are serving as superdelegates and who had endorsed a candidate as of Feb. 25.

Granny tells Obama to lay off Hillary!

Quote:
Not only do Senator Obama and his press entourage never really see towns like Hickory but they don't see the opposition first-hand, as well.

Therefore, Senator Obama has no idea that, despite whatever her campaign may be up to, Senator Clinton hardly ever mentions him anymore. Despite his remark to Hickory that he's told his staff the campaign needs to get away from going negative, Senator Obama laid into Senator Clinton, usually in conjunction with Senator McCain, several times during the afternoon.

At one point he said, "Lately the other candidates aren't talking about their ideas--they're talking about me." As far as Senator Clinton is concerned, nothing could be further from the truth. She presents more ideas on the stump than she has time for.

This misrepresentation incensed a group of women friends in Hickory. They had seen Hillary Clinton several times in North Carolina and had come to hear Barack Obama before finally making up their minds. Scratch twelve votes for him.

Quote:
"Don't hit on Hillary." Only the day before the Hickory event, Jean Weiss, a feisty eighty-two year-old, told Obama, when he called on her, thinking he would get a question, just that. Age admonishing youth, it was a powerful moment that the crowd much appreciated.

Hillary in the lead!

North Carolina
Clinton - 44%
Obama - 42%

Poll conducted by Insider Advantage

National Poll
Clinton 44%
Obama 41%

General Election
Clinton 45%
McCain 44%

General Election
Obama 43%
McCain 46%

Has Wright damaged Obama's campaign?
All 70% voted yes (average)
Dem 64% voted yes
Rep 79% voted yes
--
--

Favoribility Ratings
Obama's favoribility rating goes down 9%
Clinton's favoribility rating goes up 2%

Obama's favorable rating is now 47 percent, down 7 percentage points since February when 54 percent had a positive view of him. As may be expected, his unfavorable rating went up from 33 percent to 42 percent today.

Clinton’s favorable rating is up 2 points to 47 percent from 45 percent in February.

The decline in Obama’s favorable rating also is evident among Democrats: 63 percent have a favorable opinion now, down from 73 percent in February. For Clinton, 73 percent of Democrats have a favorable view of her, up from 71 percent.

Re: Kinnaird will run after all

Some of us in the district were disappointed to hear this news, especially as Sen. Kinnaird played coy for so long (as late as Monday!). She has been much less than effective in getting progressive bills passed, and new leadership in that seat would be welcome. Herrera and Nelson suspended their campaigns out of respect for her, which makes them bigger men than me, after all these games she's lost my respect.

Carey will do well in N. Orange but will pay for his vote in 2001 to send 'wealthy' So. Orange garbage (he lives in Meadowmont, btw) to poor communities like Person Co. Kinnaird will win handily and we'll have to wait another two years for the change we need now.

I for one was fully behind Mike Nelson. His dropping out means much more than Herrera's as he was way ahead in support, and Kinnaird's delaying cost him the most. His gracious response to all this will win him many a vote in 2010. (Read it here: http://electmikenelson.blogspot.com/)

Definitely one of the worst-kept political secrets. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. If Ms. Kinnaird is truly concerned about the "needy" in her community let her go and volunteer at the local food pantry, soup kitchen, rescue mission, or any other similar ministry.

Health insurance or affordable health care? Personally I don't think a lawyer like Ms. Kinnaird is likely to look for efficiency in health care or do more than promote defensive medicine.

Why not just "Planned development for everyone" not just the "needy"?

If someone's got antisocial tendencies that doesn't make them "mentally ill" does it? State paid quacks are capable of labeling anyone in their care to be "mentally ill". Victims of murderers who are accused of being mentally ill are just as dead as those determined to be competent. Kinnaird would rather just do away with the occassional and deserved execution, that's all.
