This coupon isn't that great. Look at the fine print and all the items NOT available with this coupon. If they were really interested in our business, JCP shouldn't limit items.

Re: A holiday bonus from Coinstar...

If you don't want to pay the service fee, then don't use the service. But to complain that a company charges a fee for the service they provide is silly. I tend to by a lot of Christmas presents through Amazon.com, so the coinstar Amazon certificate is a good deal. I toss spare change in a jar year round, then in mid-November I "cash out" the jar for a fee-free gift certificate and put it towards by holiday Amazon order.

The other day my Aunt was telling me about machines at the credit union she belongs to (in VA Beach) that work like coinstar, but you swipe your ATM card and the counted money goes into your checking account. I hope we see those around here soon!

Are you kidding me? The service fee is the EXACT reason I don't use the machine. And laugh in amusement at those that do.

I had a lot of change that I needed counted and rolled and when all said and done it was over $1200. It I took it to CS the service fee for me would have been $100+. So not only did I NOT have to pay $100, I got to use it as a teaching tool for my 6 yr old and had great family time doing it.

Why on earth would anyone complain about being charged a fee by those machines? Do they think that machine grew on a tree? The self-involvement and/or total idiocy of many people leaves me breathless at times. And to make it even funnier, they will probably take the money and go rent a video or something equally ephemeral and never blink at the price.

Re: Kroger's crazy sale...

I thought it was a great deal and bought some items that i use on a regular basis.....all the items were on sale in addition to getting the $5 off. However, I noticed when i checked out that i did not get the $5 and questioned the cashier.....the brownies i purchased were the correct name brand however they were double chocolate, not triple chocolate and the add states "selected varieties":....the counter from where i picked up the brownies had the sale sticker between the 2 varieties so i had assumed i was getting the correct ones. THe add never said which variety was on sale. It took me 30 minutes at customer service but I was allowed to switch the variety and get my $5. I declared to the customer service rep that the add/counter marking was very deceptive. She agreed and said she was sorry. I do believe some stores do this becdause they know most customers will go away without questioning.

Re: Discounts on gift cards...

Last year Sears was doing the same thing, haven't heard about this year yet, and in the last two days I got ads for LL Bean get a $10 card with a $50 purchase, at Firebirds you get a $10 card with purchase of a $50 card and there's a somewhat complicated deal with Coinstar and Amazon - if you put enough coins through a Coinstar machine and choose an Amazon gift certificate as how you get your money ($40) you can get a $10 gift certificate free, that one is a bit complicated and the details are here http://www.coinstar.com/us/html/holidaypromo2008.

I used it to stock up on some staples for upcoming birthdays and for holiday baking. Land O Lakes butter is, iirc, $2 a pound, which is a really good deal.

Re: Do you need a TV converter box?

It is true that the cards expire after 90 days - but they were mailed out almost two months after the start date, which meant I had 30 days to redeem it. As it turned out, it was a waste of time and effort - my Panasonic TV was not compatible. It appears that this is not atypical and that the converter boxes do not ensure getting the stations you used to get. Fortunately, I was able to return the converter box.
