I am old enough to remember when businesses closed Wednesday at noon and made up for it on Saturday mornings. I once asked why this was so. The reply I got from my father was so that those who lived in the county could get home in plenty of time to prepare for Wednesday evening services at church. Now, mind you, Wednesday was and is not a holy day. However, closing at noon did, at the time, show respect for those who took their church going seriously.
Our modern society has taken to demonize Christians. So, removing the bow hunting on Sunday is just another attempt at further demonizing Christians.

actully thomasville NC is bad also cause half of the time people been shooting guns and breaking an houses..so thomasville is bad east and west is bad sides the worst side is east...because im from east side of thomasville not far from high point nc the bad side..also thomasville has alot of drug dealers..you can just say the whole north carolina is bad

McCrory himself recruited new companies? Yes, that's right: just like he recently "recruited" Wells Fargo!! HA!! What a joke; does he have an ego or what? Please refer to CLT Observer article in which the City Council members state that he is a non-factor in any of CLT's successes or failures. I'm sure Harvey Gantt was just being kind in his referral to McCrory, but let's face it; that is far, far, far from the endorsement Gantt gave Perdue.

Finally......what the governor's race is all about.

It appears that the North Carolina governor's race will come down to one issue: Charlotte's crime rate.

Don't get me wrong, I love to wear an issue out. I can't wait to go to Charlotte again and maybe catch sight of Don Corleone. And at which end of the football stadium is Jimmy Hoffa buried?

Raleigh's crime rate drop over the same period since 1995 has been more significant than Charlotte's.

Thank you for posting this information.

Comparing the crimes rates in Charlotte and Raleigh is unfair. Raleigh has a heavenly advantage by having the Civitas Institue nearby and thus benefitting from the collateral grace that abounds from there.

If I am reading the chart correctly, Durham is supposedly a safer city than Wilmington? At any rate, I'd rather be locked up in Wilmington than loose in Durham.

Now that we have the "official stats," just for fun, what would they look like under a Carcetti or Royce administration. Namely, turn robberies into larcenies, aggravated assaults into simple assault, etc? I'm sure we could juke Charlotte's stats below LA or NYC
