No, Golden Leaf is NOT 'bulletproof'...there is SO much investigation going on right now in SO many corners of the wicked web...

Golden Leaf should not be audited! For God's sake, it's a behemoth political slush fund which by statute is exempt from audit. Leave those people alone. They finally got a pie job and then some fancy pants auditor comes along and says bad stuff.

The only one to get in trouble here is the auditor. The Golden Leaf is bulletproof. I feel sorry for the auditor who is being thrown to the lions.

We know what the Golden Leaf is.... so why not just leave it alone. It just causes heartache to bring the subject up. Just the mention of the Golden Leaf drives up health care costs. Anybody got a Tums?

As Rambo said to the sheriff: "Let it go."

domewatcher, if you think Bev has a lot of support form teachers right now you're on another planet. As a teacher (who didn't vote for her and neither did most of my co-workers)I'm getting mighty tired of hearing people tell me she is my fault. How hard is it for people around here to get it through their heads that the NCAE is not a union and in this right-to-work state all us teachers don't have to be members (and aren't). Just because those idiots endorsed her doesn't mean all of us did.

I don't Twitter as I am a loyal Dome reader. All the news that's fit to blog appears on Dome. The "Old Reliable" has it all so there is little need to go elsewhere.

The Dome is my first and last stop, the beginning and the end.

Joe, Tony and Marc will start hitting those "X" buttons.

Did you really mean American Idol or 80's sensation Press Your Luck?

I think the latter applies in many more ways than just beyond that infamous "X" button, Mr. Populist appeal.

What's your name on Twitter by the way? 'Cause I'd like to follow you off a cliff! [All rights reserved.]

When the GOP presents their plan I imagine it will be like an episode of American Idol. As soon as they start presenting their plan...... Joe, Tony and Marc will start hitting those "X" buttons. The audience of state employees and teachers will be booing and heckling. Then the poor Repubs will be shown the back door.....again.

Then the next contestant will come on and get cheers and admiration. She will be crying and the audience of state employees and teachers and their assistants and their assistants and their assistants will be crying. There will be much joy as she belts out her hit song,

"I'm standing up for the classroom,
I'm fightin' for the kids,
I'm standing up for education,
I'ma fightin' for my base,

Because I'm the Governor,
Because I'm the Governor."

I believe we have another winner, folks. Call in now or text your vote to "Press one to vote yes or hang up. There's no other choice."

Grinder, you've totally lost me on these details. I started storing rations and boarding up windows when I heard the GOP has a plan.

I know the end times when I see it.

Quoting from above: ".... saving $14 million by eliminating in-state tuition for out-of-state athletes..."

Another bad idea. Then the $14,000,000 would be available to add another layer of supervision.

Bloat this idea! If the kid can run, jump or shoot, he's definitely in-state material. Let's keep athletics and religion separate but not athletics and state.

Quoting from above: ".....and taking $70 million of Golden Leaf Foundation money, which goes to help rural communities...."

How about we change the last part from..."which goes to help rural communities....."

to

"......the foundation, which is a nice cushy place to find jobs (positions) for your old cronies...."

Yeah! Lift the cap on charter schools. Charter Schools are successful in North Carolina. Any legislator that says they are unproven is uneducated on the success Charter Schools are for 36,000 students in this state.

You just have to feel sorry for these GOP guys. I think they truly believe we have a two party system here in North Carolina.

Lifting the cap on charters doesn't guarantee that we'd receive $100 million in Race to the Top funds (nor does our current cap preclude us from receiving Race to the Top funds). That number was simply pulled from that special place where the sun don't shine.

I would not think it would be wise to come out against the aquarium pier. Not the best of ways to win friends and influence people. The Republicans are outside looking in. Talking against the pier is heresy and will not gain you entrance to the club. The Repubs are just digging a deeper hole for themselves. Robin Hood got in trouble for hunting deer on the King's land. He'd a been in a sight heap more trouble had he come out against the pier.

This is just grandstanding. We might not have any teachers for the kids in school but we will have a pier.

We may cut out mental health services but we will have a pier.

Don't be talking bad about the pier! It will only lead to heartache and night sweats. Accept the pier. Accept your lot in life. Go with the flow. Enjoy the pier.
