Re: UNC students need to wash more

I always thought those UNC Chapel Hill students had a bit of a funk. I'm thinking the greasy hair is supposed to symbolize an academic type who doesn't have time to bathe. Think of the selfishness too. If you don't wash your hands you could cause someone else to get sick.

Considering mass hygiene charges labeled at rival institutions in recent years (Carter-Finley's infamous urination section!) I suppose UNC will accept "wash your hands more often" and smile.

Per the above article:

"I told Governor Easley the same thing I just told you: That we were going to treat Mary Easley the same way we would treat everybody else."

If they treat everyone else the same as they treated Ms. Mary.......well.........it's a fine place to work......a fine place indeed.

In the words of Mr. Peepers, "What?!?!?"

Is this the first acknowledgement by Erskine that he met with both Easleys concerning Mary's position? Paging Agent Pierce. Agent Pierce, please report for duty. And alert igliigli and robdarich.

Perdue breaking ethics law?

If Governor Perdue was in fact sitting in the same seats that Easley sat in when he was our Governor, she may have broken the state laws "that set forth ethical standards applicable to persons covered by the State Government Ethics Act" that were passed in either 2007 or 2008.

If I understand correctly, the Governor, any member of the Council of State or Legislature, are not allowed to accept gifts worth more than $10 from someone that attempts to lobby or influence them. I believe that both UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina system have lobbyists because they receive substantial funding from the state (and are now attempting to get more despite budget shortfalls).

The Governor's husband may be a big fan of UNC, very wealthy and even have rights to seats in the Dean Dome. However, if his seats were upgraded for the game by UNC to those where the "Governor sits", then Beverly broke state ethics laws that she should have known about since she has been Lt. Governor for the past 8 years.

It seems like Easley set in exact same seats when he was governor. Anyone know if the governor gets season tickets? I imagine it wouldn't be hard for the governor to get tickets whenever they wanted. But I think Bev was sitting in the exact same seats that Mike used to occupy.

That must be where all you state fans learned about the UNC-NCSU "rivalry", because it sure wasn't based on events occurring over the last 20 years.

Re: Taylor: McCain, Dole, Perdue

"Of the two I have a slight hunch that it will be the former—McCain, Dole and Perdue. All very, very close. Not for any particular reason other than a hunch."

And with one small quote, professor Taylor lays waste to the "science" in "political science." I've got a "hunch" that Taylor probably isn't that great of a professor.

Why not quote me? I read the news, and I've got "hunches" too!

I'm glad that you got to my answer to the question after the jump! I actually find it kind of annoying to have a British accent analyzing American politics for an audience on this side of the pond, but I forgive it because of his name.
