They better get ready for a WAR. Cause this guy is in for the fight of his life. He will have to really dig deep into those pockets to hold on to his seat.

Re: Dole cosponsors global warming bill

Applause goes to Senators Lieberman and Warner for the introduction of their bill. It is a testament to the power of the grassroots movement and the growing understanding of the urgency to take action on global warming by our political leaders.

It is encouraging to see Sen. Dole support America's Climate Security Act but also encourage her to support amendments that will strengthen the bill. In order to rise to the challenge of global warming, three changes are essential. First, the bill must achieve faster and deeper cuts in pollution, which the science says is needed. Second, polluters should be required to pay for every ton of pollution they put into the air. Instead, the bill gives hundreds of billions of dollars to polluters for free, creating windfall profits. Lastly, under the bill, a company could meet its entire 2020 emissions reduction requirement through offsets. The offsets should be reduced if not eliminated.

Re: Duke prof passes on Senate bid

Peter Agre is to be commended for having given the Minnesota Senate race serious consideration. Minnesota sure could use a new policy on agriculture which would be "agre-eable" to farmers and consumers alike.

Well, there is this consolation for all potential Minnesota senatorial candidates who opt to take a pass on the race in 2008: You can still say:

"I feel good, I like myself, I'm OK, and I'm going to have a nice day even though I won't get to run against Al Franken in the primary."

And Mr. Agre can still keep his senatorial interests kindled with the realization that not only Minnesota but North Carolina needs Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate in 2008. Of course, if Hubert Humphrey had ever run for the Senate in North Carolina instead of Minnesota, he might have adopted the name, Hubert Halifax Humphrey instead of Hubert Horatio H...
