If this bill was passed almost unanimously by the legislature, then they'll just override her veto.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. Just makes good press.

The override will probably happen quietly. Sorry - just completely cynical about Bev & the Jones Street gang.

Well, I cannot believe the old gal can actually make a right decision for the state. I also am betting it was Rand, Hackney and Basnight who sponsored and rammed through this bill - they have the most to lose by having their dealings made public.

Sen. Kenneth Royall would never have tolerated this kind of veto shenanigans. Those were the good ole days when budgets were made by the leadership and handed to the rest.

What's even more amazing is the clowns in the GA pushing through this legislation. More proof that its time to clean the house in 2010, at least those that are not doing time at Club Fed.

I thought there was no chance she'd veto this, especially considering the near-unanimity with which it was passed. But the bill was a horrible idea, and it deserved to be vetoed.

Wingnuts of both spectrums always think the center is hilariously out of step with the mainstream.

At least that's what Fox News and MSNBC keeps telling them.

What I find funny here is Burr's ham-handed effort to appeal to the fringe minority you represent.

If he even manages to somehow keep you happy, he's done with the mainstream electorate.

Trust me friend, as a centrist I irritate liberals more than you do.

On topic, and from a purely political standpoint, I find this latest line in the sand from Burr ill advised.

Choice/Life is a 50/50 issue in NC at best. And the stand he just took won't fit on a Republican bumper sticker or send one North Carolinian to the polls in an off election to support his nuanced position.

So in effect, all he did was raise the radar on the overwhelming majority of other Americans that now want him defeated.

Another dumb rookie mistake IMO, unless he plans on becoming a stellar fundraiser in the next few months, and re-educating North Carolina to fit his party's ideology via broadcast.

He now needs $30 million to tie. Before this campaign burp it was probably only $20 million.
