Maybe the N&O could apply for the job. They do a great job in fluffing up the stories for the governor. I think they all see the writing on the wall and are getting as much space between her and themselves as they can to keep their careers alive. From what I have noticed, she has no message or it changes according to the polls and reports coming out. Maybe Easley could be the CD since he has more experience since leaving office than he ever did during office. Of course, he was under oath which seems the only way to get the democrats to communicate anything sensible.

Thanks Beverly and your "current" Communications Director. I feel a whole lot better that you have clarified that while the turnover of personnel in your administration has been amazingly high, it's not quite as high as first reported. Apparently, Beverly is still very hard to work with and she is certainly not giving her Communications Directors much to work with.

Perdue is problem, NOT the Messenger

Interesting, at least 6 different communications directors over the past 8-9 years. Perhaps the problem is not the messenger, but the product (Bev or Beverly) that they are trying to sell. But since Kochman stated that he hopes that "she will continue doing great things for the state", maybe they are all delusional or inept.

Here is some reform for you Bev. No more 135k/yr communications directors and cut funding for the 25 million dollar pier in nowhere.

Brilliant Bev! You appointed the foxes to guard the hen house. What fearless leadership.

Let's see - Dan Gerlach, head of GoldenLeaf, appointed by none other than our great former gov Easley. That the same Dan Gerlach who somehow got caught up in a little e-mail/phone call snafu regarding Mary Easley's cushy NCSU "job"? Yes, indeedy, it is.

And who else - Norma Mills Houston, who heads up NC Tomorrow (thru UNC), but is listed as a "lecturer" at the Institute of Gvt, at a $173K salary, and whose ex-husband sits on the Board of Governors. How cozy. Now wasn't UNC just in the news recently - oh that's right - bloated administration. The last report I saw produced by NC Tomorrow was done in 2007, I do believe. Plus there's an NCSU prof's report done in Jan/09.

"dig deep"?! ha! it should be easy pickin's.

How's that hope & change working in our own state, NC citizens?

Perdue's new high priced spin doctor

So that's at least $400,000 of the state's budget that is spent on spin control. She is certainly not leading by example as to how tight money is in Raleigh. And how convenient that this was announced after she signed the budget.

This either proves that there is still a lot of fat that can be cut from the state's budget and/or Beverly has been very ineffective in communicating with her children since becoming Governor. I wouldn't be surprised if she is less visible during her remaining 3 years and instead, depends on her high priced spin doctors to communicate her flip flops, etc. Afterall, every time she opens her own mouth, she inserts her foot.

The first 8 months of Perdue's Administration has been nothing short of a disaster. I don't think even a top-paid political spinster can get her out of her 27% approval hole

"Do as I say and not as I do" Perdue is taking a page from "to seem rather than to be" Easley, and retrenching for the long haul. This economy hasn't finished slowing down, and the more drag taxes and spending make, the slower it's gonna get. Cut taxes and spending now, and we may survive. Don't, and we may not.

Hmmm... Hire 3 teachers or hire 1 communications specialist to mislead the public on the cuts to education.
