Something's off here. Shuler and McIntyre were the only two Dems to vote FOR restricting choice. Everyone else was against the amendment.

Forget the gloating and sniping. We elect you to get the job done and the parties are made up of cluesless hacks looking for a fight. It's time to earn our votes - As an unaffiliated voter in NC you can choose which party you want to vote for in the May 2010 primaries. Don't give them the satisfaction of assuming just because there are this many Dems or RepS I can depend on your vote. MAKE THEM WORK FOR YOUR VOTE. REGISTER AS UNAFFILIATED!

I know I shouldn't be surprised by stunts like this, but somehow I can't get past the moral squishiness behind Breazeale's promissory note. To put it simply, we now have a candidate for federal office telling us in no uncertain terms that we the people can't trust him to keep his word unless there's money on the line. Of course, he's is in good company. Breazeale knows that voters don't trust Republican liars like Sue Myrick, who made a similar solemn promise as part of her Contract on America, a promise that she wouldn't serve more than 12 years in Congress. We know how well that worked out.

The sleaziest part of all is that when he defaults on his promise, Breazeale says he'll contribute all the money to a charity. What could be more twisted than a non-profit organization having a vested interest in the moral weakness of a public official?

Tell you what, Mr. Breazeale. If this charity is so darn important, how about just contributing the cash today and save us all the drama of watching you struggle with your inner demons. Most adults I know are fully capable of doing what they say without having to stage a publicity stunt like this.

The headline on this post says Breazeale put his money where his mouth is. I'd say it's more like putting his foot where his mouth is.

Congressman McIntyre is talking the talk for a green agricultural policy in this nation. The green economy includes agricultural practices, of course, and I'm glad we are spreading the word to other nations that we are a "waste not, want not," kind of people.

In my campaign for the NC Senate Dist. 15 that covers North Raleigh and Wake Forest, and which is mostly urban, I hope to bring the same kind of smart approach to innovate ways to make our economy green and prosperous. Saving our environment should be an opportunity, not a sacrifice, if we take it on like Rep. McIntyre does in regard to smart agricultural production.

I would rather see the money go to clean up the end product of all that pork, the euphemistically named "hog lagoon". While the stench makes it obvious that it is polluting the air, it is also an environmental disaster for our precious rivers, streams and groundwater.

Indeed I think the classic concept of "the rich get richer, the poor get poorer" here.

I personally do not see why the taxpayer should have to foot the bill for this either, and whether or not this helps prevent the reoccuranced of the swine flu epidemic remains to be seen.
