You have got to love North Carolina politics!

Co-speaker Black is in prison and co-speaker Morgan is vying to become the next Superintendent of Public Instruction.

This reminds me of when the preacher says, “As far as the east is from the west.” I wish we could keep these elections going year round. We just need to add in a hairdresser, a few $60.00 cheeseburgers and a big bearded Palin supporter and we would have a sitcom.

I’m all for shaking up the education system..... but Morgan?……..for superintendent of all of NC’s schools?

Further proof that we really need to get NC's mental health situation under control......

It is my experience that people who have smoked pot are just as likely to be stupid as people who never smoked pot.

This would make me more likely to vote for him.

Not just a flip-flop. She states that the voters don't think it matters. This clearly points out she is more concerned about public opinion instead of providing leadership for NC. If she believes that the governor is in charge of education then the governor should appoint who they believe will best lead the state education dept. Remove the disconnect and politics. If voters don't think it matters whether the superintendent is elected or appointed, then they don't care who is elected superintendent. Even more important that the governor appoints the superintendent. Bottom line is Beverly makes decisions based on polls. She is a follower not a leader.

I agree, I am so tired of these whiners as well. I bet Meg Scott Phipps, Jim Black, Michael Decker, and even Thomas Wright are also tired of hearing people say "lets take money out of politics". To think, had they only went to several more bbqs, and smiled nice and wide, maybe they would not be in jail, on their way to jail, or recently out of jail.

I like June Atkinson as our State Superintendent, I think she has done a great job as the acting Superintendent and should be reelected. I found this video on youtube I think everyone should check out.

Yes, you have to raise money to run a real campaign. No, you can't get elected just eating bbq and smiling nice and wide. And you never could. When exactly were these good ol days of politicking when money wasn't a big deal?

This is an issue that shouldn't be owned by one party. Charter schools are good for North Carolina.

You have to wonder what the teachers and state employees of NCAE were thinking when they endorsed David Young. I have heard Young speak about the Treasurer’s office and read his statements in The News and Observer and other papers – it is clear he does not understand how financial markets work or how to manage them – he is after all a Travel Agent. The State Treasurer is responsible for managing the State’s $78 billion pension plan that is supposed to provide the retirement of 820,000 North Carolinians. The State’s employees and electorate have had the good sense over the last 75 years to put someone in the Treasurer’s office who has some real working knowledge of financial markets. Why NCAE would choose to endorse someone who is a Travel Agent is beyond me.
