Other options were available other than plunging your hand in my pocket. Not disputing something had to be done, but just because pickpocketing was easier doesn't make it right. Thanks for the additional billion and a half in pork by the way. I am looking forward to buying those wooden arrows subsidized in the bill. I have your names and will not only vote accordingly, I will actively campaign to promote the other guy and those who voted no.

As an American I don't think I've ever been more ashamed of my government then today. The folks in 1776 and 1861 had it right, some times you just have to secede.

An open letter to Brad Miller in the 13th. Neither his campaign site or official congressional homepages can process emails. Must be all the people congratulating him.

Are you resigning or do we need to vote you out? You voted for the 'no bank left behind" bill. As a new resident here, I can assure you, I will do what I can to see that you lose your job in Washington. As someone normally votes, I can assure you I will vote for Hugh Webster in the 13th. I hope that whatever you have gotten for your vote was worth it. You may be re-elected. Maybe you will develop a conscience.

Mr. Shuler could arrange for the WNC tour to be held at the Biltmore Baptist Church in S. Asheville. (If its good enough for Bill Clinton who visited earlier this year...) Not sure if their members are required to be 'born again' but probably encouraged.

The Shuler / Burr suggestion is surprising, but its a thought, albeit a
troubling one.

If the Obama campaign does an "evangelical tour," I hope they will bring the Rev. Jerimiah Wright along. I think he would really appeal to the evangelicals down here in NC.

Seems like a risky thing for Shuler to do. Despite the claims these past few days, Obama has no chance in NC and could only stain Shuler, who I'm sure the Dems are ready to sic on Richard Burr in 2010.

If you and I make a bet on what oil prices will be in a year's time, it won't affect current oil prices. Similarly, speculators aren't affecting oil prices.

On another note, offshore drilling will reduce gas prices by 3-4 cents in 20 year's time (http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/aeo/otheranalysis/ongr.html). I just want to make sure you know that since you are such a strong supporter of drilling. Despite much "reporting" on the issue, the N&O often forgets to mention this fact.

Shame on the other four who didn't. I want to drill as much as the next Republican, but one can't turn a blind eye to Wall Street's greed and the role of speculators who profit on the American's people's suffering. Hat's off to Robin Hayes and Walter Jones for being true Tarheel patriots.

Boy, are we surprised to find that the "Rino" Walter Jones of the 3rd Dist is last in the pack and only little better than his Democrat friends. Could that be just because of his anti-war bent or is there more to this? Could Water switch to Democrat after November? Wait for the next exciting episode in As The Congressman Turns.
