The election of Walter Dalton of Rutherford County as North Carolina's next lieutenant governor will also remind folks that yes, Raleigh, there still are some strong traditional Democrats in the counties of Western North Carolina.

(The late Sen. Sam J. Ervin Jr. was from adjacent Burke County.)

I believe that all of these Newspapers have turned a blind eye toward Sen. Barack Obama's talk about "sharing the wealth". How does Obama do this?

If you could read Obama's lips they would be telling you (and of course, these lips change words everyday as necessary to please those listening!):
1. I PROPOSE to increase the top individual income tax rate by 13% (who does this apply to?), and .the second individual income tax by 10% (what does this mean?).
2. I PROPOSE to increase the capital gains tax rate by 33% (what will investors do?).
3. I PROPOSE to increase the tax rate on dividends by 33% (will anybody invest to get taxed more?).
4. I PROPOSE to reinstate the death tax (not in current law) with a new top marginal tax rate of 45% (Why would anyone leave their sons and daughters any money only to have it given to the government?).
5. I PROPOSE tax increases for corporations (Gee, N&O this affects the N&O, "Joe the Plumber", or the power companies? But then. SOMEBODY has to pay for Obama's PROPOSED Health Insurance!)

Considering the expected increased Democratic Control over the House and the Senate, what will stop Obama? BTW: The Tax Policy Center estimates that the above tax plans would raise taxes by 627 BILLION dollars over ten years. Honestly, will anybody afford to do anything EXCEPT WORK TO PAY TAXES?

Sounds like Herbert Hoover's days are back! (Remember the 1929 Stock Market Crash?)

Ah, the traditional conservative whining about newspaper endorsements. It's like clockwork each election It's so unfair! After all, we republicans have provided such a sterling track record of accomplishment! Our country has never been better! Maybe the fact that the editorial boards aren't endorsing most of the republicans is that the republicans aren't offering viable solutions to the problems facing us?

FFC, I've never known where you get your facts from. You actually contradict yourself right away by pointing out that the N&O endorsed McCrory. GASP! Is he a socialist too?

The N&O is owned by McClatchy. Hey, wait, you're right! These people who run the company do look like wild-eyed, long-haired, dope-smoking, free-love hippies who want everyone living in Soviet apartment blocks! True liberal socialists there!

The others are all owned by some form of media conglomerate - Landmark Communications, Paxton Media Group, Gannett, New York Times Company, Cox Enterprises, and the Wilson Times Co. None of those strike me as liberal, though I suppose that you'll jump on the NY TImes which owns the Wilmington Star-News. According to Wikipedia, the companies (NYTimes, Gannett, and McClatchy) that have reported revenues on Wikipedia earned over $14 billion last year. Like I said, socialists!

Of the smaller companies, you're not going to find socialists (or even commies!) either. Paxton has been criticized for having a conservative bias. I know nothing about the Wilson newspaper, but it's owned by a very small company in Wilson. Last time I checked, Wilson wasn't know as a hotbed of liberalism or socialism. It's just a town of people trying to get by (and some commuters to Raleigh).

Look, just admit it. Dole's a lousy senator. Admit it, move on, and try to find a decent republican to run next time. I'll give you a big tip: start with someone actually from North Carolina next time.

Remember that most newspapers are owned and run by lieberal socialist democrackkks...such is certainly the case in NC, except most HAVE endorsed
Pat McCrory for Gov! Sugar Dumplin must be crushed.

I just watched McCrory's top ten list, and I am appalled that this is not enough to turn off each and every voter in North Carolina. Playboy Pat is absolutely an embarrassment to all of us. What grown man running for a public office actually talks like this? "Sarah Palin is hotter in person"?
Vile, disgusting and absolutely without any reasonable defense.
PS No serious voter would "get" Perdue to say Biden or anyone is "hotter in person". We would not and she would not. What a juvenile and cavalier bunch you McCrory supporters are! There is no place for this kind of language in politics (unless McCrory used this in high school and thinks it will still work).

Is that right?

Anthony Foxx, in his 2nd term as an at-large Charlotte city council member is getting the jump on his democratic competitors as he announces his run for Mayor of Charlotte. While Foxx, an African-American would never publicly admit it, this pre-emptive action against folks like Susan Burgess is a clear indication that he expects that Mayor McCrory will be resigning in about 8 days after serving 7 terms as mayor of a city that has a majority of democratic voters.

If that was the video I'm thinking about, I have to ask:

Inappropriate language used by whom, Ryan? The Republican candidate for Governor? I thought he "suited the moment", was "loaded with energy and fresh ideas", and could be "just what this state needs"?

I understand your rules, but we're not talking about some casual poster dropping a pseudo curse word into a sentence. It's a guy who, in about nine days, could be residing in the Governor's mansion.
