Wow! So was the mental health debacle a hatchet job as well? I don't really see what he has done during his term, maybe I'm missing something.

I find Easley's comments very troubling considering he was a DA for 10 years and then Attorney General for 8.

Does this kind of talk by our politicians and leaders not make anyone else cringe? Biblical evil? I don't think anyone is really paying attention. If we were a thinking people, these charlatans and hucksters would not have a chance. I wonder how many politicians that make these types of statements actually believe what they are saying.

Biblical evil? This man is not fit for a leadership position in a secular government based on separation of church and state (maybe he should see if Iran needs a new leader--I hear the current one is losing the mullahs' favor). Of course, that applies to most of the other Dem and GOP candidates, too. Munger (the Libertarian candidate) may be personally religious, but at least he's ethical and intelligent enough to not use religious rationale for his policy positions.

One thing the Legislature did this session was to create a new means for increasing ways for big money to influence the process. By creating a structure for legal defense funds for themselves big money can get around the gift ban that was put into law last year. Under current law legislators can not receive gifts from people they regulate, which probably includes almost everyone. That would mean no money for legal fees. By allowing politicians to create a fund and permitting "contributions" they have allowed what couldn't be done previously.

Less than 10 percent of the bills filed were actually passed. This is a mixed blessing as many were "garbage bills" that have been recycled from previous sessions (i.e. death penalty moratorium). 20 percent of the bills that were passed were "junk" or "feel good" legisation as referenced in previous N&O articles... so "do-nothing" seems very appropriate.
