I am not sure which I find more disturbing. The fact that a convicted murderer was allowed to work that close to our elected officials or that a woman convicted of murder only served 5 years???

If Perdue was in need of some inmate labor, there are a number of them serving time in North Carolina prisons that would love such a work detail and are not convicted of and violent crimes.

Career politicians breed corruption and lies. Vote them out or they and their cronies either die in or retire from public office.

Option one.....you win
Option two.....you lose

McCrory would be a fool to contest the Governor's race again. He lost his home county in 2008, and his candidate, Lassiter, just lost the mayor's race in Charlotte to Foxx. A new day has dawned, and McCrory's 14 years as a do-nothing neo-conservative mayor of Charlotte is history.

Re: Wildlife group wants politics ferreted out

One major problem with the Wildlife Commission is that it is too large. When created in 1947, the Commission was established at 9 members, one from each of 9 Wildlife Districts to geographically represent the State. All Commissioners were appointed by the Governor. Over the years the General Assembly has added seats for no other reason than to create very attractive appointments that can generate considerable revenue in the form of political donations. There are now 19 seats (4 Senate, 4 House, and 11 Governor appointments), which is inefficent, costly, and unweildly. Here is an obvious place to improve efficiency in State government, save scarce funds, and eliminate patronage appointments of persons with specials interests unrelated to wildlife conservation.

I think McCrory has reason to feel optimistic about his chances next time around.

Really? We had all sorts of elections across the State last night including the first Democratic Mayor in Charlotte in over 20 years and you cover McCrory whining about something that happened a year ago?

What came first? The chicken or the egg?

I think the Governor may have something here.

We elect many supposed honest candidates to government each year who end up in prison.

So if we hire prisoners in the first place maybe they will do the reverse and go straight.

It could be that government changes people. So an honest person becomes a crook and a crook becomes honest.

Plus, it's cheaper to hire a crook than to elect an honest person. All those campaign fees and election fees and donations and flights and home improvements and chicken and golf.

Just hire crooks in the first place! At least we would know what we were getting in the first place.

Re: Perdue is problem, NOT the Messenger

Thanks Beverly and your "current" Communications Director. I feel a whole lot better that you have clarified that while the turnover of personnel in your administration has been amazingly high, it's not quite as high as first reported. Apparently, Beverly is still very hard to work with and she is certainly not giving her Communications Directors much to work with.

Interesting, at least 6 different communications directors over the past 8-9 years. Perhaps the problem is not the messenger, but the product (Bev or Beverly) that they are trying to sell. But since Kochman stated that he hopes that "she will continue doing great things for the state", maybe they are all delusional or inept.
