I have full confidence thet AG Cooper will do nothing to investigate Democrats in any way. Yje voters made a mistake in not reelecting Les Merrit back as State Auditor. Now I am hearing the the new Democratic Auditor is using political factors in removing people from the state auditors office. Cooper needs to investigate that.

Dan, i fear, is not telling the whole truth. Everyone who worked with the Easley office was aware that all of the top staffers, including Dan, kept G mail accounts just for this purpose to circumvent the public records laws. In fact, the Governor himself communicated from his own gmail account to his staffers' various gmail accounts on "hot" issues. I hope the US Attorney takes note of this fact and asks folks who appear before the grand jury. They may lie to the N&O, because the worse thing they face is a bad headline, job loss and public embarrassment. If they lie to the grand jury, then they'll go to jail. Actually, I hope they all lie to the grand jury -- would love to see them in a perp walk.

Gerlach and Andy Willis may as well get it over with. They can resign now avoiding a high level scrutiny and slip away into the night OR they can try and hangon OBLINGERing themselves and get destroyed in the continuing Easley fallout.

One way or another they are both goners before year's end.

The only person who clearly didn't have a hand in getting North Carolina into the mess it is in financially is Curtis Clark.

Maybe these people are capable of learning from their mistakes and encouraging the legislature to avoid making the mistakes again.

Does anyone notice a longtime trend here...Democrat, Erskine Bowles leaves Clinton administration, given job as president of the University of North Carolina System, Democrat, Mary Easley's high paying position at NC State for which no one else could possibly be qualified, and now Dan Gerlach, a top economic adviser to Democrat, Gov. Mike Easley, named president of the Golden LEAF Foundation. High paying positions for the well connected....under the guise of "public service"....and the beat goes on.

I guess the pay to play continues. Now we have a Easley man in charge of the Golden leaf. I hope he does a better job than the Easley administration has done with many other issues in NC. Like corruption, closed government, roads, mental healthcare, and education.

SO, two guys (both Eastern NC corrupt democrackkks) decide the budget behind closed doors. Will it be brought out into the daylight for consideration by others, or will the manipulative bosses once again perform the OPPRESSION by themselves? HOW many more years will NC have to SUFFER from this kind of 'leadership'???

We all keep asking Why? Senator Martin Nesbitt and Rep. Dan Blue got big PAC checks from ElectriCities and pushed legislation. Why? They have no electric city in their district.

ElectriCities refuses to answer questions about their new 14% rate increase effective in August. Why? Because they want everyone to believe it is all fuel costs even though they have told their cities it is a combination of fuel costs and CEO mismanagement of a refinancing of the $3 billion eastern debt which is costing 5% of the rate increase. Why?

The press helps them cover and pretends it is fuel costs. Why?

They are meeting today and refuse to answer even though it is public money and a public meeting. Why?

Why do we all allow people to behave this way when their job is to represent us?
