Just checking in to see if Tancredo supporters on DOME still feel stupid.

100 people responding. Survey says...

Show me STUPID!

*bing*

[100] Tancredo supporters = stupid

Shame, much less accepting reality, doesn't become the Republican Party. What happened? You stopped attacking the messenger, and frankly it scares this political anthropologist that you might be evolving.

Did RTB invent a NEW term? Mass Immigration?

No Paul, Tom Tancredo did when he introduced the "Mass Immigration Reduction Act of 1999", the "Mass Immigration Reduction Act of 2001" and the "Mass Immigration Reduction Act of 2003" any of which would have imposed an indefinite moratorium on most all legal immigration to the United States. Obviously, Tancredo's bills targeted legal immigration as illegal immigration already was illegal.

Giggle.

the writer needs to correct his blatent mistake in this article, which makes writer look really stupit...

Did RTB invent a NEW term? Mass Immigration?

Illegal Immigrants take jobs from African Americans as much as they take jobs from Caucasians Americans and any Legal citizen and resident. So why is the NAACP so involved? Maybe it is that they are hoping if we give amnesty to the Illegals allowing the Democratic Voting block will grow?

"A criminal record" is a resume enhancement for radicals. Ask Bill Ayers, Bernadette Dorn, Tom Hayden, Angels Davis .....

Now, it may not impress The Morehead Foundation has much as it impresses the citizens of Carrboro.

That would seem to be an exceedingly fair offer by the DA.

I hope he is not so lenient after they are found guilty.

isn't an alternative.

The "alternative" is the Apple bill itself, a massive misappropriation of the legislative process to benefit an individual company.

Maybe they mean the money being held by the SEAA, not the actual escheats fund? Still doesn't seem to add up though when you are talking about spending $210 million each year for scholarships out of the SEAA fund.

The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (SEAA) is an agency of the State of North Carolina and is authorized by the General Assembly to administer post-secondary education programs of student financial assistance created under Federal or State law. North Carolina General Statute 116B-7 provides that the interest earnings from the Escheat Fund, minus administrative expenses, be deposited with the SEAA. The law further provides that this money will be utilized to provide grants and low interest loans to worthy and needy North Carolina students in State-supported schools of higher education. In July 2008, $27,483,811 was deposited with the SEAA for this purpose. This will provide over 50,000 additional grants and low-interest loans to North Carolina students in State-supported schools of higher education.

Who's money is it?

Are they using the principle funds that come from the funding resources you listed? I was under the impression that money was required to be divested from companies into an account controlled by the state so that people could later find and be returned the money that is theirs, not the states. There are a number of websites that allow you to look up if you have lost money. But, I have noticed that NC is not a participant in the sites I have searched so far. Maybe that is because the NC government wants the money for themselves. Much like a lot of people’s tax refunds they are holding. There are other funding resources for the escheats funds that are not the property of citizens, is that the source of the public spending from this account? If not, what if people want their money and now the state has spent it? Is the state required to keep that money on hand or are they allowed to spend it as they want and are just liable for any claims?

Maybe this is more for Ask Dome...

Re: N.C. trusts military, not Wall Street

Polls like these are rather silly. People should be judged on their own records, not as a group. That having been said, notice how nonsensical these group judgments are. For example, how can we trust the military if we cannot trust the politicians who have the constitutional responsibility to regulate the military? After all, civilian politicians control the military (and that is the way it should be).
