Here's my question. The story says that Saint Elizabeth was inspired by a store that sells furniture to benefit a charity. Please clarify -- will her store benefit the poor or further Elizabeth and her ambulance-chasing, cheating husband and their poor, unfortunate children, who are little more than accessories for the Edwards' appearances in the national media.

TWO STORIES about "this woman" on the same day!!! Does The N&O have no shame whatsoever when it comes to fawning over this person. That was a silly question after five years of non-stop Elizabeth Edwards updates.

What will "this woman" have for breakfast tomorrow? What ply toilet paper does "this woman" buy for her expansive compound? Has "this woman" talked to Oprah again?

Every story about "this woman" reminds me of the Chevy Chase SNL bit "General Francisco Franco is still ......!"

I guess if he ignores the Easley stuff then it is a non issue and he can then turn his blinders away from fulfilling his current job requirements and run for another public office........just like John Edwards. WOW!

Forgetaboutit Coop. The voters want politcal resolve, not another spinelss politician who lacks the character to do what needs to be done.

You bamboozled the voters until 2012. How about honoring those voters who elected you? Complete your term or just go ask Easley for a job.

It can be made at the local level. The bill does not say that they cannot exist. The bill says that the STATE will only pay for one LEA in each county. Seems fair to me.

MattM, if you are unaware that Joe Hackney opened up the process, you're probably unaware of anything else in state government. That Hackney represents a positive difference isn't just one magazine writer's theory. It's a well known fact of life at the General Assembly.

MeckDeck, get a grip. Hackney makes the John Locke Foundation cringe precisely because he represents something all North Carolinians, whether Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Independent, can be proud of.

Face it, politicians just don't care if we, as individuals, go broke paying for all the stuff they want to waste money on. And they seem to think we're dumb enough that they can justify almost anything just by labeling it "infrastructure."

These idiots just never learn. Someone has to pay for all that "free stuff". Want to stimulate the economy - cut the fat out of your budgets and use the money saved for what you really need - not what some politiican wants so he can say "look what I did". And what did he do - plunged us (taxpayers) deeper in debt.

With a state budget that keeps growing exponentially, they still run out of money and polish up their tin cup to go begging to the feds for more. BTW, you know where the feds get their money? Look in your back pocket for the answer.
