Note that the MS-13 crackdown was initiated in North Carolina.

They located here because of NC's lax license laws. Ryan, you should see how many of the indicted have had an NC license at one point.

Let's hope our legislators will do the right thing and stop this corporate welfare to a very successful company that does not need the money. This package will not save jobs in Fayetteville. Under the terms of the current deal, Goodyear can CUT up to 700 jobs and still keep the cash.

Kenny Furr, commissioners chairman for Stanly County, N.C., on why there should be no problem observing the birthdays of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert E. Lee on the same day:

"If you get beyond the racial aspect of it and look at the two as Southern leaders, they both exhibited tremendous leadership and self- sacrifice."

Lynn,

Why don't you just request all lawmakers emails period. It would probably give us a better idea of what was going on in Raleigh. And if they are open records we ought to be able to see them. Right?

Agreed, to a point.

If you're not a BlueNC reader, all you know is that some unspecified monkey business has gone on and some unspecified group of Republicans didn't like it and wanted a Representative to resign. Seems a little too much like vigilante justice for my tastes. What's wrong with a little transparency?

But to your main point, agreed.

Almond, like Black and any other legislator is entitled to same presumption of innocence that the rest of us are.

However, this episode presents a refreshing contrast to the way Legislative Democrats and their leadership have responded to allegations of malfeasance.

Links in this post don't work. You need to put http:// before each URL or the link will automatically put projects.newsobserver.com in front of the URL. Thanks.
