Re: Helms' protege has license suspended

This sad story just goes to point out how bad our economy really is…..I mean, when our lawyers are reduced to running scams at Target….. it‘s getting pretty bad. Doesn’t this guy have a car or motorcycle so he can chase ambulances? Can’t he hang around the emergency room like a reputable lawyer? Most of the local boys I know are more resourceful than running scams at Target……of course one reason being we ain‘t got no Target. You’d have to drive to one of the bigger cities and the high price of gas would eat into your margins. Our local lawyers know how to work most of the angles to keep overhead down!

But I just pray this incident will not reduce the high regard most of us have for our lawyers (LOL).

P.S. I can't wait for John Grisham to pick this idea up and write a new novel about lawyers scamming Target.

"Helms' protege!? Is Claude against social progression? anti-integration? anti-civil rights? anti-MLK day?"

Those aren't necessarily requirements to be a Helms man. You just need to demonstrate that you have the capacity to hate certain types of people:

"in remarks he made during the re-election campaign of then-Sen. Jesse Helms, (R.-N.C.). As Helms’ chief spokesman, Allen said Helms' opponent, then-North Carolina Gov. James Hunt, had links to "radical feminists" and "the queers."

lawyers protecting each other. no surprise here. good work by the expert witness though, he internalized katrina suffering from thousands of miles away, but of course did not volunteer to help in the aftermath, contribute funds, etc.

The fact that he worked for Helms or is black, or is Republican is not important. He has issues with this and is dealing with it. We should pray for him and his family. Thankfully, he can still provide for them. I believe that he has made full restitution.

At least this guy isn't so warped as to justify his behavior by suggesting it's related to a political party.

Internalized suffering = OK to steal?

What the h*ll does this mean:

"Allen should receive a "modest sanction" because he internalized suffering of victims of Hurricane Katrina."

What was he mimicking their "looting" behavior or something? What would we do without Republicans and their family values?

Dome is reporting that Congressman Watt went abroad--to visit the Gulf Coast. Did Mel go to Mississippi or Louisiana? Didn't the Jefferson administration work out that deal with Napoleon to give us Louisiana?

Well, if there are any unresolved details in regard to the completion of the Louisiana Purchase, then Mel Watt is just the guy we need representing us in Paris. But he should ask Branford Marsalis of North Carolina Central University if he can bring along a horn and join the mission.

By the way, does Dome know if Congressman Watt is still in the Democratic pitching rotation for the next Congressional Baseball Game? Mel's got some great fast balls and breaking stuff out there on the mound, and some of us have been trying to get him to add a change-up just to keep his Republicans friends on the Hill guessing as to what he's going to serve up next.

Is it not absurd for Edwards to insinuate (if not claim) he would've been able to manage the disaster that occurred AFTER the levees failed? The response effort required intergovernmental management, and as a lawyer/legislator where is his experience in this realm?
To be fair, he may have acquired management skills from his father.
