So Beason, A democrat by the way, did not pay income taxes on the part he did not report? So why haven't he and his son been arrested?

No, you're wrong. I'm talking about what Beason and his clients reported to the N.C. Secretary of State as lobbying payments.

He'd have to report all income — lobbying and consulting — to the Internal Revenue Service, and by extension, the N.C. Department of Revenue.

To be clear, I'm not aware of any allegations that he's not paid taxes.

Ryan am I reading this right? He could have possibly made a million or more but only reported $145,521, meaning he didn't have to pay the IRS, just pocketed the money? Is that some law that those wonderful politicians came up with?

Man am I in the wrong line of work.

And Wesley Snipes paid his taxes...

As Ron Binder, the former director of Greek Affairs at UNC-Chapel Hill, used to say about fraternity and sorority schemes to get around the rules concerning consumption of adult beverages:

If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck; it probably is a duck.

If you are a paid LOBBYIST and perform functions related to your employment by an entity to LOBBY state government; it probably is LOBBYING.

But lawyers are famous for trying to convince us that "this is not what appears to be."

Considering Weisel and Beason's close ties, Beason's former clients probably should consider hiring counsel that doesn't have a potential conflict of interest.

Raleigh is NOT in Kissell's district. Cant believe that Sinsheimer would have Jim Hunt in his house! Kinda makes him a big hypocrite, doesnt it?

After hearing remarks from the two candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for Insurance Commissioner, the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg overwhelmingly endorsed Wayne Goodwin to be North Carolina's next Insurance Commissioner.

This endorsement is one of many that Goodwin has received in recent weeks.

I'd want the taxpayers to subsidize my campaign if I couldn't raise money from voters voluntarily too.

And no, taxpayer subsidized elections of judges is not working. First, the state ran out of money so a special new tax was enacted to pay for it. Second, 527 committee money is still allowed that can't be rebutted if it is spent late or costs taxpayers even more if spent early.

Private donations are not bad. More money allows more information being shared with voters.

Everybody is raising buckets of money these days. I agree with Cowell's call for public financing of this office. It's working well for the judges, and is expanding to other down-ballot offices this year. It makes sense for the treasurer's race.

Nope, sorry... he may be high up in the Co Commisioners realm but he is NOT very well liked in Buncombe...Please do NOT vote for him!

He's a democrackkk...We are NOT voting for anymore democrackkks as of this time. 100+ years of democrackkk domination in NC has RUINED our state!
