I knew Roger was a Michael Jordan fan, so when the Birmingham Barons came to Zebulon to play the Mudcats back during MJs baseball year, I went out to Zebulon and bought a dozen tickets and gave two to Roger. I think giving gifts to lobbyists would even still be OK.

The Honorable Roger Bone will be missed and has been missed these past months. Few could tell a story, count a vote or twist an arm like he could. Roger knew, was sensitive to and respected what mattered most to people -- honor and their families. One is hard pressed to find a truer son of the south. I will not forget the kindness he extended to me over many years. My prayers have been with Reba, Fred, Laura and the boys and will continue to be.

What kind, deserving posts in memory of a great man. I knew Roger to be one of the few people left on the planet you could do business with on a handshake. Fred's just like him. Deepest respect and condolences to Reba, Fred & Laura and their boys.

Roger was a nice guy, even when he was working for an industry that I opposed he was always extremely nice to me and as someone said earlier, remembered names. He would always call me by name. He was a gentleman. My prayers are with his family.

Roger was a dear friend and mentor to so many of us and never met a stranger. Roger treated everyone the same whether they were the Governor or someone on the cleaning staff working the over-night shift. Roger stopped everyone new to the Legislative Buildiing and asked what their name was and then made sure he took the time to get to know them. Roger could hold you on the edge of your seat with a story, had the memory of an elephant and was one of the best political strategists in the State. More importantly, Roger was our friend and a loyal one to the end. We were all lucky to have crossed his path in life as he made us better people.

He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed on Jones Street by lobbyists, staff, the press and legislators alike.

Roger was probably already bending St. Peter's ears this morning with a story on his way into heaven.

Roger was a mentor to many lobbyists - young and old - and a cherished friend to many in and out of politics. It is unimaginable to think of the Legislative building without his greater than life presence and country boy wisdom. His influence on so many will live on forever. As was his custom, I am sure he was the first to arrive for breakfast in Heaven with Gov. Scott, Horace Kornegay & Coach Yow. We love you, Roger.

North Carolina has lost a wonderful public servant, and many of us have lost a great friend. I have nothing but wonderful memories of this kind, fun man. I never saw him when he didn't have a smile on his face and a big bear hug for me. He deserved the title of no 1 lobbiest. I am so happy to have had the privilege of working with Roger.

I'm in a health care field, but not at the level these folks are. In the past they have used old, former Governor's like Jim Martin to do their bidding. These folks managed to get old, ex state Senator's like F. Odom on the Board and get relatives in strategic offices like head of NC Dept of HHS. Then they could pursue and play their Certificate of Need games in building Hospital Systems larger and larger. Remember the Medicare coding
deal gone bad and the the threat NC would have to reimburse the Feds? It's been a largely Republican endeavor, but they cover their bets by donating to folks like Tony Rand and Bev Perdue, just in case.

It's politics as usual.

See, all those medical folks DEPEND on the government teat for their livelihoods which makes them part of the CORRUPTION automatically! I know some of these people and what their sick beliefs are...some of these folks have become MEGA millionaires thanks to government fleecing for them.

NC Realtors $1,000

Why no raised eyebrows about the $1,000 last fall from the NC Realtors, a group that has spent $500,000 since January trying to derail our budget, schools and infrastructure?

There is nothing NC Realtors will stop at to ensure that the true costs of home ownership don't show up on a closing statement.
