Bev, You are the boss. Why didn't you do something right then? I would have been very impressed had you taken control right then and there and had thowe children moved right then. You could have done it. I am disappointed in you

Maybe it would be better for Charlotte and his campaign if he resigned? I don't know just a suggestion.

You literal types do crack me up. You need to get out from under your dome more often. Slow "news" day, eh?

I think it's easy for people who tune in daily to a given blog to lose a bit of perspective when it comes to what the rest of the state is tuned in to. It's great that a resources like BlueNC is there, but it's also helpful for its participants to remember that they are kind of "clubbish" in their exchanges, observations, etc . . . and that what they may take as given because of their blog's emphasis or consensus is not necessarily a widely shared opinion on the "outside."

The same kind of inside attitude shows up on the Pearce/Wrenn blog (Talkingaboutpolitics.com), except in that case the lunatic rightwingers seem to dominate discussions. Gary Pearce makes many sane, sage observations (as does Carter, on an off-day), but the bulk of the responses are about who the lunies hate and whether or not so and so is gay.

It really is a shame that down ballot candidates don't get more exposure in the mainstream press. It would be interesting to see profiles of some of the contenders, Republican and Democrat, before April.

This race is shaping up to be pretty interesting with four good Democrats representing every possible part of the party's ideological tent running what appear to be good campaigns.

Any of the 4 would be a good challenger for Robert Pittenger in the General Election.

Yeah, what they said.

The News and Observer is almost as bad as the Jacksonville Daily News.

I'm just trying to keep a healthy sense of perspective. There is simply no way that any of the candidates for lieutenant governor has that kind of name recognition right now.

Same thought

My search for "Besse" on the News and Observer site turned up 238 hits. My search on BlueNC turned up more than 7,000 hits. Perhaps the political overstatement of the day would be something more like: "The N&O does a good job covering state politics."

The irony is breathtaking.

Odd that the News and Observer is able to joke this way about its failure to keep the electorate informed about the candidates for one of the State's most important government positions.

Re: Third-round draft pick?

I don't see him as a third-rounder. More like the 3rd pick of the first-round. Only unlike before, he'll do much better.

Unlike other names being bandied about, I think Heath has pull throughout the State and not just in the metropolitan areas.
