Re: Another mission for national security

The vets are on to something here. Unstable weather, droughts, hurricanes and rising sea levels all bring on chaos. In addition, America's dependence on foreign oil, mostly from violent, anti-American Middle East countries, keep us under their thumb.

The pending American Clean Energy and Security Act in Congress needs to become law. The ACESA puts the environmental ball back in our court by giving us incentives for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy such as wind and solar, and by boostering the transition to a clean-energy economy. Such new investments in clean-energy technologies would lower global warming pollution and reduce foreign oil use. It would, as well, create jobs and increase our economic competitiveness in the world.

I salute Veterans for American Power for this proactive effort. As a Vietnam veteran, I feel this is a new call to action. It may not require a uniform, as before, but it does demand our commitment to sacrifice for the security interests of our nation, and it can be done without firing a single shot.

I'd also like to see them really step up to the plate and stop letting those leftist longhairs "march on" and threaten the ROTC offices on our college campuses, particularly the one at UNC-Chapel Hill.

A group called the Gatherng of Eagles often has to step up and go stand in front of the office, daring these liberal pacifist wimps to do anything. I don't ever see this reported in this paper.

Thankfully, the Gathering of Eagles are big guys. They ride motorcycles scare the liberals to death with the mere sight of an American flag! Bravo, GOE! These guys want to protect what's ours.

If you libs love socialism and hate the military so much, enjoy your new life in Europe. Why do you think so many of them are coming here?

I'm sure you are right. Once again it will prove Dome's point and make all those posters that said otherwise wrong.

If we know ANYTHING about Richard Burr (which we don't) it's that he's one straight shooter, just like Jesse Helms!

(Also not going to get re-elected).

In the poor man's defense, I will point out that most of the Senate site appears to be down. It will be interesting to see if his archive remains the same after whatever is wrong is fixed.

"The media's influence on this election has been well noted and a few will make a plenty penny publishing a research novel based on this notion."

Practically every major print media outlet in North Carolina endorsed the Republican for Governor because they knew if they did, everyone would vote for the Democrat instead which is what those reverse-psychology minors with their fancy journalism degrees wanted all along.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence though that such a technical glitch would occur after Dome links to the black and white documentation of the pre and post election disparity in Burr's 'chattiness' level being reported here.

I agree with lpetrou...

I think with the campaign season concluded, nothing really happening during the holiday season and national trends showing a large number of newspaper laying off workers, Under the Dome figure they better publish anything and everything concerning politics.

It was extremely noticeable the inability of the N&O to publish press releases on both sides on important issue stances in the 2008 election. The media's influence on this election has been well noted and a few will make a plenty penny publishing a research novel based on this notion.

As for GABE, please show documentation of your accusation. Otherwise Sen. Burr should sue you for defamation and vicious personal attacks. Also, Gabe have you reasoned with the notion, in your obviously black hole of a brain, that Richard Burr was elected in 2004. Come 2006, the Democrats controlled Congress; therefore, controlling the legislation presented, the rules of the chambers, so forth and so on (hints Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi). Any opposition to a bill presented by the controlling party, Democrats, would be inherently perceived as supporting by Bush(since he is of the opposite party), regardless of the merits of the bill in question. Admittedly, President Bush did not always present the best legislation, Democrats still voted in support, but it is discernibly irrational to claim that a Republican, whom votes against a bill presented by the Democrats, is a Bush rubber stamp. Until you look at the merits of bills passed in the Senate to comprise your little "percentage rant," please refrain from showing your inability to rationalize.

Burr once said that he agreed with George Bush on 95 percent of the issues. No way he survives reelection. Just another Bush/Cheney rubberstamp

Big difference in an average of 7 vacuous emissions of equal praise and pork a month over the years versus 7 insipid discharges in one week following the statewide clarion call to throw all the do-nothing Republican bums out.
