Oh jeez, don't these people have enough lobbyist?
None are going to take credit for disasters.
None are going to bring up the idea that they should.

Maybe they'll prop up a scape-goat, I've heard that works.

Here it is come one, come all to the greatest show in NC. All you coffers line up so I can give you the taxpayers money. People, it's simple its called flood Raleigh with enough complaints that the media will look for scandal and she'll be the first gov. to resign and go to prison just like her friend Jim Black. Who is ever out there with a grudge start getting your evidence together so that this can be done by 2010 and then a real person can be put in office. N&O you have started by not endorsing her so start looking for the dirt. It has to be there in plain sight.

Would be nice to have a representative from outside the top 1% of the income bracket. Maybe a labor representative, at least?

Another opportunity to dialogue with people who are out of touch with reality. Numbers analyzed by people who make hundreds of thousands of dollars and who only know about homeless and jobless people from a TV screen. More cutting edge insanity in NC.

Really shows a lot of class, reference "who cares" and "or mayor". Right up there with the stellar intelligence it takes to pull a straight ticket rather than take the time to evaluate the integrity and actual capabilities of candidates, as an informed citizen. But the recent reporting of reading score declines in NC schools proves it's easier just to be told what to do than have to try to read. We'll just take the easier, softer way.
Charlotte is fortunate to have a true leader in Pat Mccrory, a fact reinforced by consistent re-election for an unprecedented 13 years. Charltte is the crown jewel of North Caroina, and it is Mccrory's consistent leadership that has molded the city to it's impressive status.
What comes to mind for NC's future is the old adage, "be careful what you wish for" and it appears we got it. The banner of "It'll be different ths time", I'll clean that up" , we shall see.

Laura- you're correct, I meant to say "many" and not "a number." My point stands though. "Many" people will misinterpret many things, but I think you took it the wrong way and are making a big deal out of nothing.

Leslie, you are wrong. The premise of McCrory’s argument is the need for qualified workers in these fields. He stated that as he has traveled throughout the state he has learned from others in these industries that there aren’t workers who are properly educated in these area of work. When you are forced to hire those who have to learn on the job rather than already knowing the trade, they will be paid much less because of their lack of knowledge. If you are a business owner, why would you pay a high salary for labor when you are going to have to take away your time to teach them the trade?? I have tons of friends who I graduated with, from a four year university, and they are all working jobs that a HS dropout is qualified to work. They have degrees in Business, Psychology, sociology, etc., and they are stuck in low paying jobs which have nothing to do with their majors. All of them had it drilled in their head that going to a 4 year college is the only way to land a high paying job. So now we are left with a job market which is flooded by people with 4 year degrees who are not qualified to work the very jobs which actually need workers, precisely the fields of work which McCrory mentioned. He wants to create more training for these fields of work in order for these businesses to hire qualified workers who will have opportunities at higher paying jobs in these industries which severely lack qualified employees.

To cmitchz: If you read Ryan's post carefully, you'll notice "a number" refers to "debates." The actual question here is whether "many" (McCrory's term) equals "most." You can argue it doesn't. But "many" ("most"?) voters won't see it that way.

To JAT: If you check my original post, you'll find a link to the property tax records all the way back to McCrory's purchase date. So yes, the 1991 price was $180K. But at 1991 wages, the average mechanic probably couldn't have afforded it then, either.

She also doesn't seem to understand the difference between "a number" and "most." If even 1% make the amount, then McCrory's correct. So either this is an attempt to inflate an issue into something more than it is, or Laura needs another hobby.

Leslie must not be aware of the run-up in home values in Pat's neighborhood. His Maryland Ave. home was valued at $180K when he and his wife bought it in August 1991.
