Charles they did raise taxes on the backs of workers and the middle class. I work hard and with OT I will be hit with a 2 % additonal tax surcharge. Looks like I will be putting less money into the economy. Looks like I will buying less goods, services, and other items that helps put many people to work. I will not do this out of choice, it will happen because the government is taking my money and my freedom away from me. I was going to buy a car, looks like I cannot now. Sorry auto worker, car salesman and future tire maker and car mechanic. There will be one less auto out there for you guys to make a living off of.

Not everyone is mad. NCAE proclaimed victory so they must be satisfied. And the Whalebone area welcomes the new pier. The proposed one dollar cigarette tax dropped to a dime. I don't think everyone is mad at all. Some are quite pleased that the status quo is virtually intact.

This is a time when the General Assembly and the Governor are damned if they do, and damned if that don't. The legislators had to balance the budget, by law, and make up funds from loss revenue due to the recession--started under Bush, not Obama. If they had taxed primarily from the top down, they would be "soaking the rich." If they had taxed from the bottom up (higher sales tax), they would have been raising funds "on the back of the working poor and middle class." So, they split the difference, got the job done, and have made everybody mad.

The lack of appreciation is justified if it is measured only by what each interest group got out of the final budget package. The ingratitude (note the tone of the previous comments) sneers at the quaint idea of working for the common good, if it has not placed their own interests first.

Maybe we could replace that last part (and get the job done) with "and raise taxes in a recession."

But I will give the Dems one thing, they did fight for higher taxes. They never shy away from a good, old fashioned tax increase. You can always count on that.

People will be reaching out to them just like they are reachng out in those healthcare town hall meetings.

Now if we could show them how to fight for reduced spending. I guess it is a hard lesson to learn. The average working family knows how to cut spending. The Dems must not have any average working family members in the GA. It's a shame they cannot find some average family members to run for office. Must be easy to be out of touch with reality if you don't hang around with the average folk. Us poor folk don't bite or anything. I could understand not wanting to live near us but, as elected representatives, they could try to understand the plight of the working family.

I support universal healthcare. I am obese and have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. My doctor tells me to stop smoking and lose over 100 pounds. But I believe in freedom. So I will continue to smoke and eat doughnuts and be fat. Thank you, President Obama, for protecting my freedom and giving me free healthcare. I should not have to lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle. I should be free and enjoy the government doing for me. I'm too fat to work so I think you should tax those who are healthy enough to work so that I can lie around and eat. And I would suggest, Mr. President, that you get some more game shows on during the day. I like the soaps but more games shows would be nice. And free beer would be kind. Thank you, Mr. President.

P.S. Mr. President, can I use Food Stamps to get my General Motors Cadillac serviced? And I'd like a loaner car. Thanks again.

Stop being a greedy, self-serving conservative monster and open you mind a bit. There is no way our nation, any nation, can survive or prosper without healthcare. Eventually, those that have not will out number those that have... which is when strife/war/unrest breaks out. We watch it over and over and over again throughout the world. Nations, Companies, countries...this happens to them all becuase one group thinks they are superior to another and uses it's power to establish legislation and practices to keep them in power.

Universal Healthcare is cheaper, better and covers everyone.

Do some research. I'll get you started..

I wish there had been more time to organize even more protesters for the visit of President "Change the Teleprompter." No doubt the State's Demokrats and the local left-wing Moonbats were all prepared to knee and sing the praises of "ObamaCare." Intersting choice for location? Why not the $321 million dollar "White Elephant" in downtown Raleigh? That way, even more Moonbats could "awed" by one so much greater than them.

I hope the Gov. Bev has a chance for a little back-room action and beg her Lord for more money, so we don't have any higher taxes.
