Gosh, you are enjoying the 2009 elections way to much. Do you really think that the democrat will always win forever because of bush. Keep dreaming, because as sure as the democrats kicked it in 09, they will get put back in their box in a later election. People are already sick of obama,democrat congress and senate. As for cooper I think he is good man, but if runs in 2010, it will not be his year.

Oh Gosh by Gosh what are you talking about. Senator Burr has not abandoned constituent services to run for 2010. He is continuing to do his job and is working hard at it. The only ones running a campaign right now is the Democrats who never did end the campaign. I would predict that by the time he does begin to campaign Bush will look much better than the current president does.

Sounds like Burr's the one on the hot seat.

He's losing to an unannounced yellow dog and abandoning constituent services 20 months out to run for 2010.

Why should Cooper do anything but watch the implosion with the rest of us?

Incumbents that deserve re-election don't run for it, they do their job.

Maybe he hired Dole and McCrory stragglers and wants to bring in Bush for a fundraiser and run a Godless ad before the rush. HA!

Good lord. I think there are a little more pressing issues out there than worrying about offending left handed seagulls. You were elected to do a job. Do it. Don't waste time with petty crap like this. So no vote for Laura Wiley. SHE doesn't know what SHE (or should I say it) is doing.

One of those times when you don't know whether to laugh or cry.

It took me a while to believe there was actually a conflict about letting people practice falconry on Sundays.

It's my understanding that some groups don't want falconry allowed on Sundays because it's a slippery slope to allowing hunting on Sundays. Somehow the idea of birds "hunting" on a Sunday is a danger.

Someone, please tell me I'm wrong.

I stand amazed in the presence of...lunacy!

(And, yes, sing that last sentence to the tune).

Boseman's bill might be an attempt to force negotiations during the Rule Review process on this item. She did the same thing with stormwater rules last year (filing a bill regarding rule changes that forced both sides to sit down and talk to each other).

Isn't the "hunting on Sundays" rule change issue more to do with falconry and crossbows and less about gunfire?

Surely birds can be allowed to hunt on Sundays without endangering the citizenry.

Sorry hunters but we do not need hunting on Sundays. That is the only day that people can get out and walk in the woods if they want to without fear of getting shot. Even their own property can be dangerous during hunting season. And yes I love deer meat.

There wouldn't be a "leaky bucket" if state budget writers had acted responsibly during the last expansion. Now is the time to knuckle down, deal with the shortfall, and lay down responsible budgeting principles to allow the government to weather the next one. It's time to break the spend-and-tax cycle.

Per my colleague, Mark Johnson:

Part of the tax, 17.5 cents, is a flat per-gallon rate. An additional 12.35 cents rises or falls with the wholesale price of gas, adjusted every six months. Gas has now fallen below the price at which the adjustable portion of the tax was frozen two years ago, so the cap is irrelevant.
