Not Clodfelter.

I'd sooner go to one of his $20,000 bar party reverse fundraisers in Charlotte because he's celebrating not having an opponent than get him one mile closer to Raleigh.

Read into that what it is, and please investigate, but hell no. Nowhere near power. He makes bad choices in staff with insatiable appetites and has never met a tab he considers unreasonable; so no Raleigh, please, please, please. No. I'd just as soon not turn this state RED by sending his inept behind to real power. Someone might notice Carowinds is burning, Charlotte is part of this state and Clodfelter's name starts with Clod.

You're interviewing with Politico aren't you? This is too clever by half and not at all phoned in for 8:13 am.

BABY PICTURES: John Edwards' ex-mistress, Rielle Hunter, had a family photo shoot scheduled in Raleigh on Thursday. Technically, it was a grand jury appearance, but Hunter brought her child along presumably because she couldn't find a sitter. The baby's father, whoever that may be, must not have been available.

I seriously doubt that the NCAE gave you anything near "lip service" if you are not a Democrat. Unless it was a Raspberry. I think the elimination of ALL political parties would be a huge benefit. Campaign finance reform? Raise it all yourself, don't take any money from "parties" and then we'll see whether the hacks start to work for the interest of the poeple who vote instead of the people who pay.

Basically the NCAE has ZERO political clout. They almost to a person endorsed the Democrats and basically gave lip service to Republicans. I know because I interviewed for their endorsement and received nothing but lip service.

They did nothing and that is why I quit my membership. I have 26 first graders when I should have no more than 24. My county will ask for a waiver and they will likely grant one. So...where did they win? I have my step increase frozen and even if the children did well on the testing, no bonus money. I can understand some of this but then why do I have more students, more work, but less compensation and they want to claim a victory?

Real motive is covering the behind of the Democrats that just voted to layoff thousands of teachers.

But the problem, superintendents say........

"Local school officials are expecting to receive federal stimulus dollars to help avoid layoffs. But the problem, superintendents say, is that it's a risk to hire teachers based on money they don't yet have in hand."

"But the problem, superintendents say,......" I would think that there is more than this problem. Will these federal stimulus dollars last forever.....or are they like the "temporary tax?" Will stimulus dollars now become a part of local school funding? And if so, won't the feds want to have some say in the local schools?

The schools have many problems....by and large. And the stimulus money, by and large, may solve the problem in the short term, but not, by and large, in the long run.

We won........bring out the fatted calf 'cause it's party time!

It's good to see the true motives of the NCAE. Winning = jobs, not educating children.

"They have to be scratching their heads wondering what that $4 million they gave to North Carolina Democrats in 2008 actually bought them."

This is all probably some minor lover's tiff. Love conquers all things and I'm sure they'll make up soon. We will "save the classrooms" and "stand up for education" and "invest in the future" and all be eating off the dollar menu.

This looks like grounds for an ethics complaint.

Of course the NCAE has probably been intimidated into silence. I also doubt they actually want to do any real damage to a Democrat.

Re: NCAE: We're at war over budget

Please look at the social services budget that the state funds. Why can't we share in the short fall. The state spends billions on other programs and they are not getting cuts. People need to look at how much money is being spent for each county. I was blown away. Law makers need to cut funding for programs that use our money instead of cutting teachers and assistance. They say the they are not doing this , the counties have no choice when our leaders are not going to give funds to each county to keep its teachers and assistance. Also , look at the One North Carolina Fund, it is giving millions away each day to business , where is the money coming to fund this , lottery?
