I hope all progressives are happy now that we got rid of that fascist warmonger George Bush the Younger and replace him with a peace president.

MM - at the rate this President is going, he won't have made a decision until this time next year. How is that fair for the troops he supposedly leads? The military isn't bullying him, but I imagine they'd really like him to make up his freakin' mind.

By the way... surge in casualties in Afghanistan? Happened on Obama's watch.
Flawed election in Afghanistan? Happened on Obama's watch.
Declining morale among US troops in Afghanistan? Ooops... Obama's watch.

A year ago, Afghanistan was the "just war" to Obama... now its just another example of his inexperience. And another campaign position that came with an expiration date.

Obama should not let the military bully him into making a snap judgment to keep us mired down in Afghanistan in perpetuity. Obama is doing the right thing - by seeking a strategy that defines a way out - Americans do not want to be in Afghanistan today - and this time next year - the majority will be aching for a way out. The US military has not been able to stabilize Afghanistan in 8 long years of an expensive war that has cost America a lot in blood, treasure and international standing. Obama must find a way out of the quagmire and that does not mean sending more Blackwater Xe's to infiltrate a nation where they have been active for the past 8 years. America is not a military dictatorship any longer - Obama must rely on diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. Bush tried unilateral military interventions - and lost two major wars. Cleaning up Bush's mess is not a Sunday picnic - and anybody who thinks it should be a rush job with troops and Blackwater must have been living on another planet this past 8 years.

He Obama will send what is needed. I am all for sending more undercover people dressed like the locals to infiltrate the enemy maybe even the government. Send more Blackwater XE in to undermine the taliban and capture Ben Laden Besides they can get away with stuff. Play like the other countries. Takes one to know one.

Uh, David? The President's been "deciding" for almost a year. He's had the Petraeus recommendations for almost three months. On the campaign trail last year, he said 10,000 more troops were needed. Was that a rushed, ill-considered announcement, too, or just another Obama campaign pledge that came with an expiration date?

This President has just about become Emperor Nero II.

So Obama turns down Edwards and picks Biden?

I would have preferred as VP that guy getting paid $400 for a haircut. Just on the surface I would think that he/she is the smarter of the three. Imagine what that guy could do with the Federal Budget? Imagine how good a salesman you have to be to get someone to pay you $400 for a haircut.

You'd pretty much have to be a complete idiot to be shocked that as empty a suit as John Edwards would try to cut a deal in order to get into power. Not surprising, then, that the empty-headed college kids who spend five hours a day on sites like TPM and Kos, and the 45 fringe lefty bloggers in Asheville, totally bought into Edwards' schtick.

Speaking as a Democrat, there is nothing noble about putting the entire Democratic ticket at risk with the secret John Edwards was carrying. While I believe he truly cares about representing the poor and working families in America, he put all this at risk as he chose to pursue a very personal fancy. And no, Mr. Edwards' elected political career is over for the foreseeable future. There are too many unanswered questions and doubts about his truthfulness. Who would want to see all those ugly TV commercials bought and paid for by right wing zealots?

I believe that John was only thinking about the poor people. He was willing to take second spot just to make sure the poor would be represented. How very noble of John. How about John to run against Sen. Burr. John has the experience and name recognition.

Do gays even know it's Christmas time at all?

"I didn't get into politics because I thought government had a better answer. I got into politics because I knew government didn't have the real answers, that the real answers lie in accepting Jesus Christ into our lives...I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ."

The wackier and more "consevative" the GOP gets, the less likely it is to see control of any key NC offices any time soon.

See Charlotte election returns for details.

P.S.

The N.C. Republican Party has long been a conservative party associated with the late Jesse Helms, and Fetzer said...

Jesse would have been the first one forwarding the email about Fetzer being gay had he been alive and still kicking the crazy.

Wow. I read this and my first thought was: "Gee, the GOP is really getting smart. They're doing just what they need to do to take control of things."
Not really.
I've been voting in Tar Heels elections for 23 years. The last thing the party needs to do is push moderates out the door. It's moderates that make the difference in the elections. The money that gets spent, the media rhetoric, the courtship of various blocs all take a backseat to voting booth decisions by independent-minded, mostly centrist, moderate voters.
The wackier and more "consevative" the GOP gets, the less likely it is to see control of any key NC offices any time soon.

A "NY conservative" is a liberal here. Brad Miller is too conservative to win a GOP nomination north of the Virginia border. What a joke.

We can only hope that Tom "who-is-not-gay" Fetzer wants to remake the NCGOP in the spirit of the national Glenn Beck Sarah Palin party. In the wake of Art Pope's destruction of Richard Morgan, I say "Let the purge continue!"
