Wow. I read this and my first thought was: "Gee, the GOP is really getting smart. They're doing just what they need to do to take control of things."
Not really.
I've been voting in Tar Heels elections for 23 years. The last thing the party needs to do is push moderates out the door. It's moderates that make the difference in the elections. The money that gets spent, the media rhetoric, the courtship of various blocs all take a backseat to voting booth decisions by independent-minded, mostly centrist, moderate voters.

A "NY conservative" is a liberal here. Brad Miller is too conservative to win a GOP nomination north of the Virginia border. What a joke.

I was contacted twice this past week for polls on this same question. The first person asked if I was in favor of Obamas healthcare plan - so knowing the facts I indicated that as of this date the president has not put forward any written plans to congress - I heard some stuttering then they ended the call.

The second call was the Elon poll above, where I indicated that without knowing how the "public option" would effect me and would I be able to participate I could not choose - once again call ended.

Please be very wary of the results of these polls they are organized to obtain a pre-determined outcome based on how questions are asked - never do they provide any details, and at times they do not even know the facts

Do not forget that the Organizing for America group which worked to elect Obama to the Presidency called all anti- Obama types "right wing domestic terrorists".

While just today at my weekly let's blow up the Olympics, kills some doctors, send anthrax to Democrats and drive fertilizer into Federal buildings meeting I said the same thing.

Don't forget how mainstream media portrays us!

Let me ask you a question. If our power comes from coal, or nuke, how does that make us dependent on Saudi? Hey, I assume your were talking about my saying that if I put solar in, that it would take ten years to break even, right? I guess you are just obsessed by the war, right? That's why you had to bring that one up.
That's ok, because I am sure you aren't always this angry with the world.

For me, this says it all about the Republican position.

I was told the if I installed solar on my house that it would take ten years, if lucky, before I would break even.

Good point Dogbyte. If it takes ten years to make money instead of you and your grandchildren sending it to Saudi Arabia forever while being subsidized by constant war that takes two-thirds of your taxes, why even try?
