Beverly Perdue is a liar …..“You can't trust her, I just call it like I see it” THESE ARE THE WORDS OF Joe Mavretic, the former DEMOCRATIC speaker of the NC house. Here is the video of Mr. Mavretic saying these words and explaining why he said it. The entire clip is 6 minutes long, forward it to 5 minutes if you just want to hear the part where he says WE CANT TRUST BEVERLY PERDUE!!!

If James becomes a Republican apologist it will, I think, prove that John Hood was right all along.

And then the world will come to an end.

Nevermind guys like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd

Who were in bed with Fannie and Freddie (Frank literally in bed with them, but that's another topic for a different blog). When these guys with the help of the federal gov't were putting the screws to banks and credit lenders to force them to give bad loans, when Fannie and Freddie grew to a bloated level and these guys kept insisting they were fine, and any sort of Republican oversight offered was labeled racism. Kinda sounds like any criticism of a certain candidate running for President with ties to radicals and hails from the dirtiest of all gutter trash, Chicago and their political machine.

If we're comparing, I'm 21, and I'd hate to live and work in a new European welfare state that forces me to only work 35 hours a week and pay over 50% of my income to the gov't so I can have rationed healthcare and various other "social" services that I don't need.

Anyway, I'm off to class. Midterms this week :-/

PS: I don't look at a New York Times unless I'm wrapping garbage.

I'd be interested in it too. But for those of us who are keeping up with the results of Republican leadership these days, this site is of much more value.

I'll be 60 in two years, and have hoping my savings would be enough to let me retire, though my wife will keep working. But thanks to Republican Leadership, it ain't happening. Not for me. And not for millions of others.

You need to get a spell-checker, Mr. Manager.

The only thing backfiring around here is McCrory's record of half-truths and corporate interests.

Thank you for your sincere interest in more detail about McCrory's plans for NC. As you can tell from the television commercials being run by the two campaigns, McCrory is the only candidate who is running a positive campaign about issues. I believe that is why Pat is leading in every poll since August. Perdue continues to run disceptive negative ads and they are backfiring on her. You can learn more about Pat's economic plan by visiting our website...here is the link http://www.patmccrory.com/docs/issues/Policy-Statement-Economic-Development.html
Pat would love to have your support.

At first I figured McCrory did not want to provide his financial statement because he didn't have as much money as Bev.

Now I think he's not showing it because he ain't got as much money as Protzman.

It's a simple question, Mr. Campaign Manager. Let's see McCrory's personal financial statement and all will be put to rest.

No one's claiming any hint of scandal or impropriety. You're the one who brought that up. We simply want to know how much personal interest McCrory has in sustaining the profitability of Duke Energy. As mayor of Charlotte, the question is irrelevant. As governor of North Carolina, it could be a potential conflict of interest.

Why not answer the question?

And while I have your attention, one more question: Does Pat McCrory support John McCain's plan to tax health care benefits?

McCrory denies being married

On page one of Pat McCrory's Statement of Economic Interest Date March 7, 2008 he begins his patter of non-disclosure by entering "NONE" under "Name (First, Last)" where the form says "Please provide the following information concerning your spouse and other members of your immediate family".

Is Pat McCrory saying to the Ethics Commission that he is not currently married or that he is legally separated?

It's so convenient to write "NONE" when you just don't want to be bothered answering the questions. That's what McCrory has done all over his Statement of Economic Interest and if he's omitting the fact that he has a wife it's reasonable to assume that he's omitting more compromising information.

I have just done a search on Mr. Terrell and see that I assumed incorrectly. He actually IS a Republican political candidate right now. That he would assert that financial disclosure questions are inappropriate in that context is reprehensible. I remain very uncomfortable joining your team if Mr. Terrell is a good representation of its members and their tactics.

Campaign manager, I appreciate your effort and believe what you say, although a name in the signature would have made me more comfortable. I have no reason to believe Mr. McCrory is anything but honest and ethical, and that's what I like about him. However, I would rather hear more now about real programs he proposes to improve our economy and environment, and less about cleaning up state government or being squeakier clean than Perdue.

We already know what we dislike about her - give us something more, please! I live in "her" territory, east of 95, and I want to know what McCrory proposes to improve economic development over here, how I can feel comfortable that he will remember us once he's elected, to make him deserve my vote to end the Charlotte mayor curse.

You have a chance to get a lifelong, activist Democrat vote here. Don't blow it with more of the same mudslinging instead.

Mr. Protzman's ruse about McCrory "hiding his wealth" is getting tired. McCrory (and Perdue) filed statements with the Ethics Commission re: their financial status. These are public documents that outline sources of income, property and other assets. One look at these forms makes it obvious that Perdue is a millionaire (who has loaned her campaign at least $1M, but sources indicate as much as $2M). McCrory is not wealthy. McCrory has been a part-time elected official for 15+ years and presided over the city of Charlotte for 13 years without one hint of scandal or inpropriety. Perdue has been in state government since the 80's and has an ethical cloud hanging over her head from a pattern of corruption that spans her entire career. From having to return improper funds to the nursing home industry, to SBI investigations for that and for soliciting contributions in exchange for a road project, to fundraising from state employees, to her association with Agri-Ethanol bribery scandal, to this year when two DOT board members raising money for her campaign were forced to resign from the board. I am associated with McCrory-- I am his Campaign Manager-- and I can tell you that if you want to clean up state government, you have only one choice for Governor...Pat McCrory.

Good job, Paul - I intended to post a comment to the effect that these promises from McCrory were enough to make up my mind that I really could vote for a Republican for the first time ever. Then I read your post, and realized that if you are the kind of person who comes along with him, I can't do it.

I don't know James or where his money comes from and I don't really care, as he, and I assume you as well, is a private citizen not running for office. Just so you know: yes, I must know what Mr. McCrory lives on. I have no reason to believe there's anything wrong going on, but it is a fair question and it is fair to expect answers. Your nasty assertion that this story about high ethical standards he promises to uphold isn't the place to ask questions about finances is ridiculous. If you are speaking for him, in fact if you have any connection to him at all, then I believe it would be a mistake for me to join that team.

Pat McCrory promised if elected governor to provide: weekly or near-weekly press conferences, detailed copies of his schedule, access to his email and to prohibit his staff from destroying their emails.

Speaking to the News & Observer's editorial board, the Republican gubernatorial candidate pledged much the same kind of openness that he said he has practiced as mayor.

"I return your phone calls," he said to a group of reporters and editors. "To me that's customer service."

McCrory contrasted his promises with Gov. Mike Easley, a Democrat, who infrequently appears in public and often spends long weekends at his Southport home. Easley's public schedules include minimal information, and the N&O, Charlotte Observer and a group of other news organizations have sued his administration for "systematic deletion, destruction or concealment of e-mail messages sent from or received by the Governor's Office."

McCrory promised regular Q&A sessions with reporters and to make his email available, with the exception of information that would reveal confidential information in an economic development project.

"I do that as mayor," he said, referring to the Observer's practice of regularly reviewing his email.

He said state employees' work email is a public record and should not be destroyed.

McCrory also said he thinks too much confidentiality is afforded to some personnel cases, when public officials are prohibited from discussing why an employee was fired.

"I wanted to tell the public someone was fired because of unbecoming conduct," McCrory said.
