It doesn't really matter what Perdue thinks about eminent domain, she voted for the lottery and consequently will never get my vote.

Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue supports a constitutional amendment on eminent domain.

In an e-mail to Dome, she said she supports a proposed amendment to restrict the government's right to seize private property for economic development.

She did not elaborate.

However, Perdue said she does not support a proposed amendment to ban gay marriage.

"North Carolina already has a law on the books that clearly defines marriage as being between a man and a woman," she wrote. "I support that law and don't see a need for any further change."

A bill putting the eminent domain amendment on the ballot is in the Senate. Last month, House Speaker Joe Hackney killed a bill that would have put a gay marriage ban before voters.
