Balanced State budgets

Seems like SOMEONE at the N&O or one of the local TV newscasts would point out that the NC Constitution REQUIRES that the budget be balanced...CONGRATULATIONS Kay for being a very SMALL part of accomplishing that legal requirement of NC. I'm sure IF you ever end up in Washington and the law is changed requiring a balanced budget you will again be a VERY SMALL contribution to that as well!

its easy to balance the budget in NC when the democrackkks just STEAL what they need for balance from the Highway Trust Fund, and such...

lefiam and jjsmith must live in their own little world, because the person lying in this race is not Dole...but Kay Hagan. She is opposed to off-shore drilling, now she is thinking about it...flip flop...flip flop.

It is funny, because in my search for truth and thanks to an email sent out by the Dole campaign, since I have signed up on their site, showed me some interesting facts that I am sure no one knows, yet the media has yet to pick up either...GO FIGURE.

Read Below and educate yourself...Hagan is nothing more than a pawn for the DNC, which has controlled Congress for the past two years, yet all the blame is placed on the President...who makes then laws and who enforces them...

Kay Hagan Rails Against Oil Companies While She and Her Husband Partly Own Multiple Oil and Gas Drilling Wells in Five States

Salisbury, NC – Kay Hagan and her labor union friends began running the third advertisement of the campaign today and to no one’s surprise, it is another negative attack on Elizabeth Dole. What is surprising is that, while Kay Hagan continues to campaign against the oil industry in speeches, press releases, direct mail pieces and her campaign ads, Mrs. Hagan has been raking in profits from partly owning oil and gas drilling wells in at least five states.

“Kay Hagan is a hypocrite of the highest order for attacking Senator Dole for being too close to oil interests when she herself is an oil baroness and is profiting from the very product she is condemning,” said Dole Campaign Communications Director Dan McLagan. “It is no wonder that Hagan has no energy plan – she is profiting from the status quo. No additional drilling equals higher oil prices equals higher profits for Hagan personally,” McLagan said.

Hagan’s Oil Partnerships

According to Hagan’s own personal financial disclosure, her husband Chip is a partner in several oil and gas drilling companies that own wells in at least five states.

• Oil and gas wells in Stephens (sic) County, KS and Logan County, OK through Ace Midwest Partners 2004.
• Oil and gas wells in Bearer, OK (sic) through Ace Midwest Partners OK-6
• Oil and gas wells in Sullivan, IN through Psigen Sullivan
• Oil and gas wells in Garvin, OK through Jasmine Oil Wells
• Oil and gas wells in Newell, WV through Ergon Oil
• Oil and gas wells in Perry County, OH through Chrisjo Energy, Inc – Bearfield

“These are not stocks or mutual funds, they are physical oil and gas wells partly owned by the Hagans and involved in the discovery, extraction and sales of petroleum – petroleum which has become much more valuable as Hagan and her Washington, D.C. cronies fight tooth and nail to stop oil exploration which would reduce demand and prices for this product,” McLagan said.

Hagan’s charge is not only hypocritical but it’s false. Sen. Dole has been out in front on this issue and even introduced a bill to repeal more than $17 Billion in tax credits for oil companies and redirect that revenue to investments in alternative renewable energy.

Let's level the playing field: give us tidbits about Hagen. Her commericals say that she balanced the state budget 5 times. Hey, isn't that constitutionally required!

Dear Senator Dole, stop lying about, well everything.

According to your campaign you have solved illegal immigration, will lower gas prices, aren't connected to George W Bush and detest outside spending on campaigns. Even though you are horrifically ineffective, voted with George Bush 92% of the time (putting at least part of the blame for this economy on your shoulders) and you chaired the NRCC where you oversaw the spending of millions of dollars on outside ads.

So, Senator Dole, stop lying about your record, and stop worrying about a joke in a TV ad.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole is hitting back on a TV ad.

The Salisbury Republican's campaign called an ad by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee a "below-the-belt" attack on her age. (Dole is 72.)

In the ad, two old men sitting in rocking chairs debate whether Dole is "93" or "92" — though it turns out they are talking about her effectiveness ranking and the percent of the time she votes with President Bush.

Dole's campaign argues that the ad exaggerates Dole's age by more than two decades.

"Also, the Senator typically hits the treadmill before embarking upon an average 16 hour workday — and she doesn't even own a rocking chair like the ones used by the men appearing in the ad," the campaign says in a press release.

The campaign attached an audio clip from Dole appearing to take the ad in good humor, though.

"I think if folks are going to fib about a lady's age, they really need to make her younger," Dole said.
