Why do people in NC keep voting for a woman who lives in Kansas and DC? What does she care about us ... other than her seat in Congress that gets her fat retirement benefits? Doesn't help any of us!

When Elizabeth Dole told the Triangle they don't deserve a train, the message was loud and clear -- if you want to get somewhere, drive. If you can't drive, tough.

What part of that is "leadership" on "the energy issue"? Working against mass transit and leaving the TTA standing high and dry is anything but leadership.

It is a shame that Dole thinks we'll forget about that this November.

Co-sponsoring legislation written by the oil companies that will destroy North Carolina's fishing and tourism economies in order to more money in her corporate masters' pockets is a slap in the face to generations of families who worked hard to make the state attractive to outsiders and put fish in kitchens.

Hopefully the "$4 gas" threat will sound hollow, since it has been exposed as nothing but speculation, not the result of supply and demand.

When is Dole's office going to release a statement saying that she opposes their efforts and that she is just a puppet of outside organizations?

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole is about to get some outside help.

After three attack ads from third-party groups have aired, the North Carolina chapter of Americans for Prosperity will take to the airwaves next week to defend Dole.

Spokesman Dallas Woodhouse said that the minute-long ad will air on radio stations across the state. As with the others, it will be an independent expenditure not related to the campaign and is technically an "issue ad" on energy policy.

The ad features a male and a female narrator talking about high gas prices, then noting that Dole has a plan to repeal the ban on offshore drilling.

"Senator Dole has shown real leadership on the energy issue at a time when North Carolina families need it most," the male narrator says.

The group will spend about $150,000 on the ad starting Monday.

Americans for Prosperity is a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to promoting limited government and lower taxation. It receives funding in part from Raleigh businessman Art Pope and small donors.
