For real w/ the fees. My favorite is when you see a four-pack for the lawn for $40. Good deal at $10 a ticket, eh? Then you get your total and then end up being close to $25 or more each due to tax, tags, & fees.

For one thing...since Walnut Creek stopped taking parking money at the gate they tack it all on to the individual ticket.

The previous poster brings up a good point...the fees are astronomical. A recent purchase had so many fees attached to it that it equaled the price of another ticket. This prevents me and my family from going to more events, as the final cost gets too much.

And why are the fees so high when ticket delivery is online? No printing or delivery costs, so why are the fees so high? They are rarely much less than purchasing them in a more human labor-intensive manner.

I usually check Craigslist first to see if anyone is just trying to get rid of tickets for any varied reasons... then usually LiveNation if it's a concert. I HATE Ticketmaster and try to avoid it at all costs, but after falling for some of LiveNation's "marketing" (ie: $10 tickets, but $12.50 in fees), I'm starting to dislike them just as much.

So in short, people on Craigslist first (help a neighbor out :-)).

I was trying to remember the last time I stood in line to buy tickets for something. I think it may have been my last Mudcats game because we went at the last minute. But by and large, when we want to go to a concert, theater show or sporting event, we buy our tickets online. It seems most other people do, too. I thought this story from the Houston Chronicle was fascinating. It's about how online ticket sales have changed the way the ticket universe works. So how about you? Where do you buy your tickets?
