The N.C. Democratic Party is tying Pat McCrory to George Bush.

One day before the president comes to Raleigh for a fundraiser for the Republican gubernatorial nominee, state Democratic chairman Jerry Meek unveiled a video linking McCrory and Bush, David Ingram reports.

Before a handful of reporters, Meek showed a brief video showing McCrory praising Bush at the 2004 Republican National Convention. It also showed screen shots of newspaper headlines and quotations from Bush and McCrory on various issues.

"If you want to know what kind of governor Pat McCrory would be, just look at what kind of president George Bush has been," reads text on the screen at one point.

Meek argued that McCrory has similar positions to Bush on school vouchers, children's health care and regulations on air pollution.

"He has a long track record of being a mouthpiece for George Bush and George Bush's policies," Meek said.

When asked whether Republicans will try to tie Democratic gubernatorial nominee Beverly Perdue to Barack Obama (again), Meek said that won't be a problem.

"I don't think that anybody's really going to be running from Barack Obama," he said. "I think he's a candidate that inspires a lot of people."
