The past month DOT added two more projects (bridges in Wake County) to the CC Mangum till totaling $2.2 million . . . which brings Fred's NC State Government haul to over $45 million for the past year.

True conservatives like Fred Smith?

Exactly how many millions of dollars in revenue for his paving company has "conservative" Fred Smith received from the State of North Carolina?

Fred Smith, who grew up in an orphanage by the way, is like lots of North Carolina conservatives. He hates the government spending taxpayer money except when that spending makes him and his family even more wealthy. I guess that's why he has included "build more roads" as part of "protecting the environment" on his website.

Shameless is the only word that comes to my mind.

Why lie like that? I know for a fact that there has only been one tax increase during his tenure and that is the increase that he was against. Get your facts strait.

He doesnt stand a chance. He's raised taxes and supported tax increases in Charlotte WAY to many times to make it out of a Republican Primary. Especially running against TRUE conservatives like Bob Orr and Fred Smith

All he would do is bog down the field so that the GOP would have another flooded primary forcing their candidates to spend more money than necessary leaving the winner with even less cash in November.

For the sake of ALL Republicans, don't do it Pat!

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory hasn't ruled out a gubernatorial run.

According to a post on Tim Boyum's Political Connections blog, the city's longtime Republican mayor left the option open during an interview:

During an interview this morning for Political Connections we asked Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory about his future plans and his thoughts on running for governor. He said "I'm not going to say no" and that he'll make a decision in the next month.

The interview airs at 6 p.m. Friday on News 14 Carolina.
