http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/dole_53_hagan_39 Comments for "Dole 53, Hagan 39" en http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/dole_53_hagan_39 <!-- Begin check for Blog Icon --> <!-- End check for Blog Icon --> <!-- Begin check for Teaser Toggle --> <div class="field-item"><p>U.S. Sen. <a href="/dome/profiles/elizabeth_dole">Elizabeth Dole</a> has opened a wider lead.</p><p>In a recent <a href="http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_senate_elections/north_carolina/election_2008_north_carolina_senate">survey</a> by Rasmussen Reports, the Salisbury Republican got 53 percent while her Democratic opponent, <a href="/tags/kay_hagan">Kay Hagan</a>, got 39 percent.</p><p>The results are almost identical to a survey by the same pollster two months ago, but they show a decline from Hagan&#39;s post-primary bump that brought her <a href="/under_the_dome/hagan_up_one_in_rasmussen_poll">almost even</a>. Dole&#39;s recent <a href="/under_the_dome/dole_to_spend_500k_on_tv_ad">TV ads</a> may have also played a role, especially since Hagan is not advertising.</p><p>Another recent <a href="/under_the_dome/dole_47_hagan_39">poll</a> by Public Policy Polling also showed Dole gaining ground. </p><p>The survey of 500 likely voters was conducted on June 10.
