Nice dodge on the real issue.

Of course Dole won't ask questions, because some of those contractors are probably paying into her campaign fund. Just follow the money, if you can get by your own bias (pot, meet kettle).

No tough questions? She doesn't even speak in her latest TV ad. She just stands silently behind the law enforcement officers looking kind of creepy. I'd love to see her take a general knowledge quiz about North Carolina. I bet she'd fail. Why does she want to be "our" senator? Sort of like Hillary Clinton minus the ambition but still using us. She has a very low profile. Invisible really. When do you ever see her on TV? When do we ever hear her speak? When is she ever here? What has she done?Never, never, never and nothing.

This the opening salvo from the News & Observer in their battle to assist the Democrat party in the 2008 elections. I want readers to take note that each time a Democrat charge is leveled against a Republican candidate, it is reported. Each time a Republican charge is leveled against a Democrat candidate, it is reported along with the Democrat rebuttal. I have watched this pattern for years by the N&O and they really think they are being fair and balanced.

A Senate colleague criticized U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole Monday.

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat who sits on the Armed Services Committee with Dole, charged that Dole has "not been asking tough questions" about accountability for military contractors.

In Raleigh for a fundraiser for state Sen. Kay Hagan, McCaskill told Dome that she was disappointed with Dole's failure to look into what she called "war profiteering" in the Iraq war. A former state auditor, she estimated that there has been $150 billion in theft and fraud by contractors.

"There are tough questions that are begging to be asked, and frankly, Elizabeth Dole hasn't asked those questions," she said. "She very rarely asks a question."

McCaskill argued that the Senate has not done enough oversight of military contractors until recently and said that Hagan's background as a state budget writer would help her in Washington.

"We need more people up there that are willing to ask the tough questions," she said.
