Re: captsfufp on June 6, 2008 - 5:35pm
To answer your first question, I would expect that it's by invitation only to manage the overwhelming demand as well as to protect him and the many regular citizens who do wish to hear him from the rabid opponents who may be dangerous and definitely would be disruptive. Why don't you inquire why the sitting president and vice president come to N.C. for political fundraisers, which require both an invitation and a big fat check, without even pretending to make any public appearances?

As for your second assertion, I'm sorry, this one's too easy. I'm pretty sure he's had a couple of jobs, like both practicing and teaching law, and he's got about 75 IQ points on the incumbent. He also made his way to Columbia University and Harvard Law School on his own, rather than as a legacy. He started his journey to the White House from scratch with no silver spoon in his mouth, unlike young Mr. Bush, who turned every bit of golden opportunity he was handed into lead until he decided to take the easy path prepared by his father and got hired by an undereducated and over-trusting electorate in Texas and then remarkably repeated the feat nationally.

Does Senator John McCain still have a job, or did i miss a newscast somewhere?

Oh, the certainty in your words when you state that Obama won't do this or won't do that. Also, it would be to your advantage to check your spelling before posting a comment. Not doing so tends to cast doubt on the quality of your education.

Did the fact of being a senator count for Elizabeth Dole, John Edwards, Jesse Helms or any of the others who "fattened on the public payroll"? I suggest not.

How is it that The Presumptive Candidate is only speaking to people by invitation only? Is he planning on being a representative of all of the people or only the select few? How does one get a invitation?

No, neither Obama nor Clinton nor McCain are going to directly change your life. But what a good president can do is to manage this complex and complicated nation to the benefit of the citizens and along with congress provide a stable economy. and promote such benefits as health care available to so many not covered now. Universal health care does NOT mean a government program but a joint effort of private and public entities.

Obama won't get us into stupid, interminable, unwinnable invasions and occupations failing in their intention of forcing "democracy" down others throats. He will at least promote a more peacable, stable world.

I'm not an Obama supporter per se but I fear more that McCain will be too much of the same current regime.

And yes, I'm PO'ed too that it's invitation only!!!

Why is it everytime he gives a speech (and not a rally) in NC, it's invitation only?? He did it in Fayetteville, too, when he was here?

I agree...his message is nothing that working Americans are interested in hearing. I'm not even sure what full-time job he's ever had in his life...

I certainly qualify as "middle class" but, for the life of me, I have been unable to ascertain just what Barrack Obama can do for me. Will he go to work for me each day? Will he buy my groceries? Will he pay my rent? Will he ensure that my children get a college degree? Will he pay my medical bills? My conclusion is that he will not and cannot do any of those things. Rather, I will continue to do them for myself because that is what my daddy taught me when I was growing up.

"Change that works for you" is a slogan that too many of us have accepted as some answer to our problems. Drink the cool aid my friends or pinch yourself and wake up to the reality of life. There is no free lunch and there are no magic answers to the issues that confront all of us daily. Think about it!

State Fairgrounds in Raleigh on Monday for as part of the "Change that Works for You" tour.

It will be the kick-off of a two-week tour centered on the economy.

The return visit so soon after North Carolina's May 6 primary is a clear signal that Obama intends to follow-up on his promise to compete in North Carolina.

The event, which starts at 11 a.m. in the Exposition Center, is by invitation only. According to a release from the campaign, Obama will give a speech on the economy.

"The middle class has always been the engine of prosperity in this country—but for nearly eight years we’ve had an administration that tells working people ‘you’re on your own,'" Obama said in a statement. "Not when I'm president."

He pledged to work for accessible and affordable health care, create a foreclosure prevention fund, provide a tax break for homeowners and crack down on fraudulent lenders.
