RTB,
You deserve some tsk tsk-ing on all of your posts on the gas tax issue. You and your colleagues keep presenting the issue as a he-said / she-said issue, when it's easy for you to determine who is being truthful and who is not.

Obama is correct on this issue. It's a matter of basic introductory micro-economics. When the you've got a verticle supply curve (ie, operating at full capacity), you won't get any change in prices with a tax cut. The price will remain the same, while the oil companies will pocket the tax break. All economists agree with Obama on this issue.

Unfortunately, you continue to report the Clinton/McCain claims on this issue like they have equal validity to the Obama claims. For that, you deserve a serious tsk-tsk!

Your headline misrepresents Obama's response to Clinton's idiotic gas tax plan by a wide margin. He doesn't attack her at all. It's her lame proposal he's talking about.

It's clear the media have turned, as they always do, toward attempting to take down the frontrunner. (I know you're not part of some grand conspiracy and that you probably didn't mean to be fanning flames, but the effect is the same no matter what the motivation.)

An undecided casual reader would have one response to your headline: Mean old Obama. Poor little Hillary.

Barack Obama is attacking Hillary Clinton's gas-tax proposal online.

In ads on Facebook and other Web sites, the Democratic presidential candidate warns voters to "beware of Hillary's gas tax gimmick."

"The Clinton Gas Tax 'Holiday' Gimmick will * do nothing to reduce the long-term price of gas * do nothing to reduce carbon emissions * do nothing to reduce our dependence on foreign oil."

Instead, it says Obama will increase mileage standards, invest in alternative fuels, move toward energy independence, reduce carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050 and "restore U.S. leadership" on climate change.

The Obama campaign has used Facebook and online advertising much more heavily in North Carolina and elsewhere, in part because it is targeting college-aged voters who use those sites.

Still, it is the first negative ad Dome has seen online from either side.
