early vote numbers for political junkies

Being a numbers junkie, I just analyzed the publicly available early voter file on the State Board of Elections website http://www.sboe.state.nc.us
The 6 am file now shows 470,808 early voters (up from the 10 pm Saturday posting of 466,396 on the State Board website, likely from some late reporting counties that are not online in real time but submit their files separately)

Here is a break out:
First table is by party affiliation of the voter (showing which primary the voter cast ballots in).
Second table shows the party primary the votes were cast in.
Third table shows which party unaffiliated voters voted in.

U in D means unaffiliated voter voted in Democratic Primary

U in R means unaffiliated voter voted in Republican Primary

U in U means unaffiliated voter did not vote in either party primary but asked for nonpartisan ballot (judges, local referenda, some nonpartisan local school board elections)

TABLE 1
D	326090
R 73164
U in D 60959
U in R 9639
REP PRIMARY 82803	17.6%

So, NC4Hill, what would be a more appropriate statement for Obama to have made about Wright? How about, "I'll shoot him in the back on sight the next time I see him." Would that be tough enough for you?

So how many voters did you speak with? Four? A dozen? A hundred? Your comment doesn't mean much without some context.

"To put that in context, turnout in the 2004 presidential primary was 16 percent, so we're already more than halfway towards that number and it's not even Election Day yet."

uhh, there was no Presidential Primary in North Carolina in 2004. There was a separate caucus with about 10,000 showing up. There was a gubernatorial primary in 2004.

FLAMING SLASHER

NC4Hill says:

"In addition to whatever you think of Wright ..."
"denunciation was pouty, self-serving..."
"Barack whines..."
"mocking and sneering.."
"utterly disingenuous..."

Please forward these thoughtful comments to African Americans for McCain where they may find greater resonance.

And thank you for your contribution to civil discourse.

I certainly hope so. It's time to wake up from the media-induced trance and elect someone tough and experienced to take on the onslaught we know is coming. Barack whines about Gibson & Stephanopoulos? ? Hillary takes on O'Reilly. A Fox News poll released Wednesday found that 61 percent of Democrats describe Clinton as "tough," but only 23 percent say that about Obama. In addition to whatever you think of Wright, Obama's "denunciation" was pouty, self-serving, too little too late. Every day it becomes less credible that he wasn't in the pews, didn't know, now he's shocked and outraged.

PS I'm tired of him mocking and sneering at Hillary on the stump. It's not presidential. I saw him in a clip making fun of her idea to make the oil companies pay the gas tax for a few months. Not to mention it's utterly disingenuous for him to say "that's no solution," like she's not the one with the more far-reaching plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. He makes it sound like it's one or the other. Mr. I-voted-for -the Cheney-energy-bill.
I'll take my $3 a tank now, thanks.

Today I spoke with voters in North Carolina for one hour. There were only two voters that said they were supporting Senator Obama. I am wondering if this an indication of the final results in North Carolina!
